At a middleschool in MORGANTOWN, W.Va to help encourage excersise and cardio workout they are offering the chance to play DDR during school.

DDR, short for Dance Dance Revolution is a game where you dance to a set of steps on screen to music. The game is actually quite a workout depending on the level of difficulty you choose to play at.

I think this school has the right thoughts in mind when they offer this to students to partake in during PE rather than the normal tedious activities such as mile runs and so forth. From the picture taken you can see the DDR pad. They've gone all out and gone for the hard metal/plastic pads rather than the cheap plastic cloth mat version.

The article failed to mention which platform the schools were opting for. PS2 or PC.

My friend would be proud if they were to do something like this at my school.

Now I'd like to see rival schools use Pump It Up... just because they can.

PIU doesn't have anything popular in its songlist. Only those with diverse tastes in music would appreciate it.

While I guess it's kind of cool, nothing beats classic PE games like dodgeball, kickball, football, basketball, hockey, tennis, badminton, handball, baseball, etc and I think I personally would be disappointed if they started using DDR in my PE classes instead of regular sports.

I could just play DDR at home if I really wanted to and it's rare you are ever able to assemble a whole bunch of school buddies together in for one giant sports game.

Granted, I haven't had a PE class since Freshman year in high school.

I wish my school would have used that. I probably would have attending the physical education sessions, if that were the case.

Wow, that's such an awesome idea! My school would never even consider it though. -_-'

Hopefully the idea will spread. =)
