If your an RPG gamer then you most certainly know who Bahamut is, and if you don't... where have you been living? One of the popular Summons from the Final Fantasy Series, it seems that he may very well be getting a game of his own. With "Blood of Bahamut" a trademarked name by Square-Enix a website for the game has gone live, and we have to wait 5 days to uncover the truth as to what the game will be about, and most importantly what platforms:- Consoles or Handheld.

Here's me SERIOUSLY hoping that it's not a DS/PSP game but a PS3/XBOX360 (and yes I don't care if it's multiplatform, as long as it's a console game - that's what I care about) Come on Square don't screw us PS3 owners again with a timed-exclusive on the XBOX360 or a handheld game. If it's multiplatform release it at the same time worldwide on all platforms!

Ummmm, I don't really see it being a disk based PS3/360 game (Or an arcade game either), but I think PSP/DS is most likely....

I mean, it is about a character within the whole FF universe, and not a main character, but rather a support character, of sorts. Technically, one could just call him a glorified magical spell. A higher order of spell that summons an actual being, instead of elemental damage.

    Probably PSP, maybe DS game.

If it is a PS3/360 game, I'll be surprised, but interested in how it pans out.

If they could make a game about the "Chocobo's" - AND make it disk based (Chocobo Dungeon) I'm pretty sure that they can make this a fullout game and make it also disk based. Plus just seeing Bahamut on a HDTV in 1080p would bring a tear to the eye of any FF fan (the happy sorr of tears that is...)

Why do I have a bad feeling about this game?

      Krunal Nov 12, 08
No idea... I think whether this is a Handheld game or a Console game, it's going to sell really well, and I think Square Enix are coming around... ever since Crisis Core they've been making good games again... this may be another one...

        kik36 Nov 12, 08
Yeah but just because it sells well doesn't necessarily mean that the game will be all that great.......especially when it has anything to do with the FF universe. The artwork looks great on the website, but will mean nothing if it gets put on the DS.

We shall see, but I won't be getting my hopes up on this one.

Well seeing how some other Square Games have actually hit the mark and have been good recently, I think this may be another one, but then again for it to be good wont take much with the low quality games that they've produced recently, as long as it's better than that, I expect most people to shout praises...

    I'm thinking DS atm.

    Unfortunately...

That concept art reminds me of the turtle city from White Knight Chronicles.

      Krunal Nov 12, 08
Well this does seem to be a "Bahamut City"... I'm assuming that whilst the story revolves around Bahamut, you don't actually play him as the main character... That's just me guessing though...

Very cool looking art on the site there. What is the huge thing that looks like a moving landmass/dungeon? It would be interesting to see what this was about. I'd be more interested if it were for PS3/360, only because I own a 360 but a HUGE FF fan.

I believe that is Bahamut or some form of him that's also a city... though I'm just guessing here...

    HisServant77 Nov 12, 08
Wait, Bahamut? That's an actual god that is worshiped by some. It's also a Final Fantasy character too? Hm, who'da thunk?

Lol, shows how much I'm into the FF series!

Actually, I played a lot of FF games when I was younger (when the characters were too pixely to look androgynous), so I knew all these summons. Later, I realized that 99.99999% of FF summons were taken from mythology from SOME culture or another.
      • 0
        HisServant77 Nov 12, 08
Haha, yeah it's funny sometimes how many game characters and plots and all that are taken from real life cultures.

        Krunal Nov 12, 08
I think Shiva was pretty much the only Summon I knew to be mythological initially, and that's only because it's a Hindu God (Male god, not a female one as depicted in the games).

I agree 100%. For me, every time SE deviates from the numbered Final Fantasy series, or provides another RPG, it is always lacklustre for me. Others will feel different for sure, but I've always hated it when they make games out of the numbered series. DoC anyone?

Also, I'd prefer it if SE stop making ALL these different titles and put most of their manpower into the three Final Fantasy XIII titles.

That would most likely slow down production nevermind speed it up.

More people working on a game, generally, doesn't work.

Don't worry Krunal, I loved Dirge of Cerberus too! Even if everyone is against us we still have each other!

Not sure how I feel about this game yet though, I'll have to wait and read up about it more when there's more info out.

OMG Am I dreaming... its... its.....is it really you Prince Sander I haven't seen you in what feels like 2 god-damn years (I cannot actually remember how long ago it was that we were co-mods ).

But yeah, I did love the game, though that may be because if any game has RPG elements I'll love it for the RPG elements more than the other aspects, and more than a TPS, DoC was a RPG for me.

Well i hope its a Sony PS3 exclusive game i dont want this game to be limited by xbox 360 weak hardware like ff13.
    • 0
      Final Blade Nov 12, 08
Its not going to be limited. They're finishing up FF13 on PS3 blu-ray then turning their attention to 360 version on multiple discs.
      • 0
        Krunal Nov 12, 08
There's one thing that you have to remember, although they are doing that, it doesn't mean that the PS3 wont be limited. I'm sure there are things that the PS3 can do but the XBOX360 can't and vice versa. Now that they know that they'll be creating a X360 version of the game they'll know what that console can handle, and they'll not add any features that the PS3 alone can handle so as not to kick themselves in the leg when it comes to trying to get the XBOX360 to do something similar. In effect, FFXIII will no longer be making the most out of the PS3's Hardware...(if they were going to that is...).

          Red 9 Nov 12, 08
Dude, they already said the PS3 version would be finished first. They never at any time said they were going to sacrifice quality on the PS3 version. After all, the PS3 version is mostly optimised for PS3 hardware.

Don't know why you'd say that.
        • 0
          Krunal Nov 12, 08
I'm saying that because I've just got a sneaking suspicion that they wont optimise it for the PS3, but when making the game, they'll think about the XBOX360 as well.

Essentially, I believe that they'll think "Hmm... is this possible on the XBOX360" if the answer is no, then they may not try it, even if they're working on the PS3 version first. Sorry but I'm just a pessimist when it comes to these things, though that may be because most Multi-platform games tend to be better on the XBOX360....

Whereas the PS3 exclusives themselves are amazing.
        • 0
          Red 9 Nov 12, 08
The PS3 version has been in exclusive development for ages. To do what you're implying, they would have to go back and downgrade the PS3 version. The multiplatform announcement came along near the end of PS3 development, so it had been optimised for PS3 for all those years prior.

Like I said, they would have to go back and downgrade the PS3 version, an effort I doubt they're willing to take.

          Krunal Nov 12, 08
Surely the question is then "When did they know they'd be making the game for the XBOX360" and "How Late in the production of the PS3 version was it". I hope to god that it was as you say quite late, but we know for a fact that it'd been decided a month prior to the announcement at the very least.

Since it's still not gone gold in Japan, chances are they're still working on it, and isn't 5+ months a long time in itself? Remember that game developers are often adding and removing content from a game before it's finally released because they feel that it just doesn't work right, or that it'd be really good to add this.

If they are doing as they say and are working on the PS3 version fully, then I honestly have no qualms with Square except for the fact that they're delaying the game due to the XBOX360 version, and then they're going to delay it FURTHER in the EU (and no, I'm not going to import it - I don't import).

          Final Blade Nov 13, 08
Krunal as me and Red stated, as soon as PS3 version is complete, they will start the process with the 360 version. They have yet to begun on it. Thats why its taking so long. Its cause they're still keeping their words and promising both games on each platform will utilize each system advantages, and neither will hinder productions. Hell they're making the game on the 360 with multiple discs, it was confirmed back in July. There's no reason to be pessimistic or paranoid. Trust me the PS3 will not be downgraded.

          Krunal Nov 13, 08
Yeah, your probably right... but you can't tell me to keep my cool about getting the game 5 months after everyone else (remember I'm in the EU, and they also confirmed that it wont be a worldwide release on both platforms, US will be getting it a lot before the EU, and the US version will be delayed by the X360 version).

Goddamn, its fanboys like you that REALLY ANNOY me.

The PS3 and 360 are equal in hardware power, seriously, LOOK IT UP.
The only difference between a PS3 and a 360 is one uses DVDs and the other uses Blu-ray ; ; so please take your fanboyism elsewere.

        Krunal Nov 12, 08
Actually, your wrong. The two systems are NOT IDENTICAL 100%. There are things that the PS3 excels at, that the XBOX360 can't do easily, and vice versa. These are the things that make each console stand out.

We've yet to see the games that make full use of what the hardware of both systems, and it's new games that are to be released that are going to be trying to tapping into the unknown power of said consoles.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a perfect example of a game starting to tap into what the Playstation 3 can do. It doesn't tap in 100% but it does tap into it's power.

If the two consoles were so identicle in hardware, then when games on the X360 are ported to PS3 you wouldn't have porting problems (such as with Orange Box and various other games, which are below par on the PS3 - in essence they can't recreate what they did on X360 perfectly on the PS3, and any game that is later ported to X360 will be exactly the same, because it was initially written for the first console).

FFF, if we still had the negative thumb feature, you'd get one. If you had done your research, you'd know that's just not true.

        And you're calling us fanboys...
      • 2
        Gamesta100 Nov 12, 08
Wanting a few games to be exclusive to a certain console does NOT make a fanboy. If that were the case, 99% of gamers would be fanboys. In fact, I must be a fanboy to then.

In fact you saying that the 360 and PS3 hardware is exactly the same besides the DVD/Blu-Ray drive sounds a little more like a fanboy. For fanboys sprout nonsense garbage, like your statement.

Fanboys are socially inept people that have nothing better than to abuse others for difference of opinion.
Kru is FAR from being a fanboy because unlike fanboys, he has a stable mind.

Thanks for the words Gamesta100, I agree with you 100%.

The only reason I'd actually want any game to be PS3 Exclusive is to PROTECT MY INVESTMENT. I cannot buy two consoles, and so I have to protect the one console that I've invested in, i.e. PS3. only way I can do that is by supporting it, and hoping that more games are made on it, and that it sells well. Because if the PS3 fails, chances are I wont be getting any more games till the next generation...

That said, I'd love to get an XBOX360 for Halo and Infinite Undiscovery, but that's really only the games that interest me (disc-based anyway... I'd also like Carcosonne and Settlers of Catan two of my favourite board-based games which are also on the store), and so these games doesn't justify my getting the console (nor could I afford it... I earned 17K last year, and this year I'm pretty much broke... I have no idea how fast the moneys run out... it's mind boggling)

But in any case, I wouldn't mind this game going Multi-platform PS3/XBOX360 for the sole reason that if it's good, I'd like Square-Enix to give it a sequel which'd be more likely if it's multi-plat than single plat.

Final Fantasy XII - He wasn't in that game (unless you count a ship being named after him).

          Final Blade Nov 13, 08
It really depends on the game. Bahamut wasn't in FF9 or FF12, unless its the ships being named after them like Krunal stated.

he was in FF9 (he had a fight with alexander)
the fact the he was named after the ship gave the idea that he existed in the world of FF12 at some point
