While many gamers have been accusing Blizzard of "milking" the second installment in the StarCraft series following the announcement it will be split into three parts, the company has straight out said this isn't true. Full interview with Videogamer is at the source -- quote is below.

However, speaking to VideoGamer.com this afternoon in London prior to the midnight launch of World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King, Paul Sams, chief operating officer, Blizzard Entertainment, gave his word that the decision was about providing a better experience, and not about making more money.

He said: "The fact of the matter is, it's absolutely, positively untrue about us trying to stretch it out and milk it. People think that it was a monetary driven decision. I can absolutely, positively tell you, with 100 per cent certainty, that that was not part of the conversation. I guarantee it. I give my word. There was never, ever a conversation where we said, 'let's do this because we're going to make more money'. I guarantee it. As a matter of fact the sole reason we did it was because we thought it was going to be a better experience. Anybody that says otherwise is not correct. It is absolutely not what we did it for."

I actually think they're giving themselves 1 extra expansion to get the balance right. Considering all the issues they already have with the game, it seems like they're really going to need it. Brood War's near-perfect balancing must have been part luck.

I think they're so loaded they don't need to bring money into the conversation anymore, haha.

Well it all depends on how they handle this three separate campaigns stuff they have going. If say you download the two you don't have to buy some cheaper expansion pack that would work better.

But the thing is, they are also adding new units to every race with each expansion. And the campaigns are gonna be packed with awesome CG and in-game cutscenes, it will be worth a whole expansion set.

theyre only splitting it up mainly because theres SO MANY damn single player missions its ridiculous. they said the first one, Terran pack, will have somewhere like 80 normal length missions. plus multiplayer/Battle.net on top of that. also it gives time to polish the Protoss and Zerg packs.
