GTA IV DLC, Chinatown Wars Delayed

PacoDG | November 13, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 3
Take-Two CEO says "It's close to being complete. That said, it may move into the second quarter. Downloadable content is a big undertaking. It is important to be really special."
If that isn't enough bad news for you wannabe street thugs, it also turns out that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, the DS game, may be delayed as well. Zelnick made sure to mention that Chinatown Wars may not make it's Q1 2009 target release date, meaning that the game will more than likely be pushed back to February, 2009 at the very earliest.

The impact of the GTAIV DLC has weakened surely in the eyes of many, since GTAIV died out fast for many players. I have GTAIV for PS3 sadly so I cannot pick it up, but I still want to; Its probably worth it.

As for Chinatown Wars being delayed, this makes me happy. I'd rather they take the time to undertake some polishing and ensure its the best possible experience for the DS.

The only reason why GTA4 was weaken somewhat was the afterparty of GTA4. In fact this says it better.
    quote Steel Magnolia
The way I see it is that a lot of GTA fans thought the storyline and the plot were awesome and loved every second. It seems to be the replayability and everything else that has disappointed. So if these are expansion packs, and long ones at that, it's going to give people more of what they want. I admit I rarely play GTA 4 anymore, but when I was playing through the story, I really enjoyed it, so depending on the price, I will probably pick these packs up. The game was great, it was the afterparty that sucked.
So I see the DLC having huge impact on replayability. So it sucks for the 360 owners. However its going to suck more for PS3 owners, cause if this brings back the replayability, then whatever the PS3 gets won't bring it out much. Not to mention most people wouldn't bother with the DLC once the PS3 version gets it.

Why would the PS3 be getting the 360-exclusive DLC?

You know, I'm fairly confident the guys at MS would have double checked the contract between them and R* to make sure there were no loopholes.

How does it suck for 360 owners if it brings back replayability?

The DLC iirc is timed exclusive or some how it will be knowing R*. Since they did the same with San Andreas with PS2. Kim, they probably did check, but R* is notorious with finding loop-holes its how San Andrea's ended up on the Xbox 1. Trust me, you don't know R* much if you don't think they won't find any loop-holes in the contract.

@Slumpy, It sucks for 360 owners cause many people who had both systems before the launch of the game and was bashing their sole decision of which version to get on the DLC, will now have to wait for these expansions. Cause not only were they both promised earlier, but they got delayed once and now twice without a concrete date. I know many people on Neoseeker and Playstation site alone was choosing the version solely based on the DLC expansion packs. It was a very big thing before. Now if these things do end up bringing players back due to what Steel stated, it will suck for them, especially how big and awesome these things are.
