Care Homes All Over Love The DS

Revolution 9 | May 01, 2007 | News | DS
It is good to see grandma and grandpa finally getting into some video games. These senior citizens have always been trying to keep their minds work and non-senile for all of time, and brain training games now seem to be the solution. And the fad is spreading fast; just a couple days ago, I saw my friend's grandpa playing Brain Age. Watch out, kiddies, your grandparents might take over your title as the gamers of the family.
Nintendo's hand-held console the Nintendo DS has proved to be an unexpected hit with residents of a care home across the country after they discovered the numerous brain-training games you can buy for them.
Residents of CLS Care Services have been getting to grips with Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? prompting the management to have 12 Nintendo DS Lites installed in three of its homes. The games often focus around improving the player's memory by starting with easy levels of remembering and working the gamer up to the harder ones.CLS operations director Tracy Paine told Channel4.com: "We are looking forward to exploring the potential of the games with our older residents and staff."However, Ms Paine did accede that the games consoles may prove to be more difficult for services users who had problems with their eyesight or who suffered from arthritis.
