SCEA VP for sales, Ian Jackson, talks about the PS3 worth your money at the price its at. Noting that you won't find any video game system under $400 for what the PS3 is packing, for the 80GB version case anyway.
Ian Jackson also states that the sales target for the PS3 in fiscal year 2009 is 10 million. And he's very confident it can reach that amount, since the PS3 is already close to hitting it.
The standard 80GB PlayStation 3 retails for $399, considerably far away from the mass market "sweet spot" of $199.
But Sony Computer Entertainment America VP of sales Ian Jackson said on Thursday it's the value that counts.
At the BMO Capital Markets Interactive Entertainment Conference on Thursday, he said, "Now, I've heard it said a number of times from a lot of different folks: 'Well, you know, It's all about price and it's all about what you can provide, and everybody's price conscious.'"
He described the PS3 as a device with entertainment versatility, strong game support and Blu-ray compatibility. "There is no product in the industry today on the videogame console market that delivers what a PlayStation 3 delivers for under $400, in the case of the 80GB."
From the beginning, Sony has taken flack for the price of the console, as the 60GB originally launched for $599, due in part to an expensive Blu-ray drive.

Though he is right about you get what you pay for.
Now this would be news if he said it wasn't worth the price.
I... I guess I never really stood a chance...
...really? ._.
I find it hilarious you complain about articles not pertaining to your interest and trash them, yet continue to post in it.
Oh, and I find "derailing" your threads fun. It makes up for the lqck of any real content in the news stories.
Lulz.
After tax people end up with around $100-500 left, is it really worth spending all that cash on a PS3, people have to save for these things. If its cheap as hell people would be buying them in droves.
Of course this isn't the case.
It's interesting the different comments each provide, and yet how the articles aren't too too different I suppose.
hahaha
That to me is kind of sad when we're already at year 2. Hopefully that now we have LBP, MGS4, R2, and then KZ2, InFamous, WKS, GT5 and Versus on the horizon, things'll look up. Because as things are, the PS3 in truth, is still really underperforming.
