Tired of normal sounding consoles?! Well, take a peek at Brazil's new console, 'The Zeebo'! Surprisingly this Brazilian 'bad boy' looks quite sleek, but is totally different to all of our Sony and Nintendo consoles! This has been created to rival the consoled of the 3 biggest manufacturers such as Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft. Unfortunately it will only be sold in Brazil. ;)

The Zeebo packs an ARM 11 main processor clocked at 400 MHz and a second ARM 9 Graphics chip clocked at 274 MHz. With this hardware, the Zeebo should be able to compete favorably with the Playstation 2 in terms of raw power.

Interestingly, the Zeebo does not use optical media of any kind. Instead, games are downloaded over a free 3G wireless connection and can be stored on 1 GB of internal flash memory inside the console. The machine also has an SD card port for game saves and other uses.

An intrepid Brazilian company called Tectoy hopes to capture a portion of the young, casual gaming market in Brazil with the launch of their Zeebo home console. This innovative piece of hardware presents the first credible challenge to the popularity of the other big three manufacturers, and lights the way toward other potential opportunities in markets south of the equator.

Well thats just it. With the details read in the article and above, it doesn't really look like they're trying to compete with the next gen consoles. Still, innovative.

    What The Hell? Really?
I have a feeling this will sell really well in Brazil, but say it was competing with the PS2 Gamecube and XBOX..
    I still wouldnt pass.
The Controller looks like a squared off version of the classic controller. Look at the control pad and buttons. The oval thing underneath the "zeebo" logo on the controoller looks like a Nintendo one.

    Oh well, sucks for them.

Why only in Brazil? I'd like to take a stab at that, actually.

Meh. I think this sort of thing is pretty cool. And if interests from outside investors comes into play, then we may even see a possible international console launch in the years to come. I am quite interested in seeing some of the games and what they have to offer as far as playability, graphics, etc.

In Brazil, usual games are too expensive, because they all have to be imported, that's why pirated games are so popluar there.

So I guess somthing like this would be pretty good fo their video game market.
