Reggie Fils-Aime backs up the Nintendo Wii's price by saying that there are no price cuts planned. I used to think that is smart, but we'll see how well the Xbox 360 sells this holiday since the price is now lower than the Wii.

The consumer is voting with their wallet and their pocketbooks that the Wii and the DS represent fantastic values. So far this year, month in and month out, the Wii and DS have been number one and number two selling systems for the month. That suggest our value equation is finely tuned at this point… There is no need for price cuts on our systems today.

Not surprised, The Wii cannot do anything wrong in the eyes of the buying consumer.

Why price cut when you're contently selling out entire shipments? I see 360s always in stock even with the $199 price tag, the Wii can probably raise its price and it will STILL sell better than the 360 at $199.

At least at this moment in time, Nintendo has absolutely no reason to cut the price of the system. And knowing them, they won't until they see a slight dip in sales. Then, they'll lower it to $229 and be on top again.
