Many of us have heard of National Geographic. For those who haven't, it's a company that publishes magazines and runs a television channel (at least in the United States) with the purpose of inspiring people to care about Planet Earth. Many of its readers and viewers have been adults, which is rather sad considering it's the children of today who will be the ones responsible for taking care of the planet tomorrow, so National Geographic has decided to get hip and cool with the kiddos.

How? They're forming a games division. So far, plans have been announced to create games for the Wii, DS, PS3, PSN and the PC. Sorry Microsoft fans, but so far NG's not interested, or rather doesn't have plans at this time, for Xbox 360 development. This month, they're releasing a free flash game called Herod's Tomb which is a tie-in to an upcoming television program. They're also planning to work with Sony and Namco-Bandai to begin development on National Geographic: Africa and National Geographic: Panda. Could this be the beginning of a beautiful adventure or an attempt that's failed right from the start? Only time will tell...

You know. I'm fairly sure I'll survive without National Geographic games on my 360.
