Microsoft's NXE, which was hyped as being the most important thing to happen to home entertainment since the advent of color television, is bringing untold amounts of strife to Xbox 360 owners worldwide.

While the most serious problem is (naturally) the Red Ring of Death, those who find themselves lucky enough to not have their consoles up and die are experiencing serious audio problems, incompatibility issues with their HDTVs and system lock-ups, amongst many, many other things.

It's obvious that Microsoft has a serious problem on their hands. Microsoft treated the NXE as this giant revolution in the way we were to view home entertainment. But rather than giving Xbox 360 owners the ultimate in home entertainment, they seem to have given them a giant buggy mess.

I have to say, I have had no personal issues as well. Using HD, optical audio myself AND loving the Netflix streaming.

Actually, I went to the source article, read the comments (and forums), and it appears most people have not had any complaints about the update. Of course, even if everything did go smoothly, some hater out there will likely find some way of spinning this update negatively.

So far, the problems from NXE appear to vary, so it may not even be NXE that's causing the issues (not in every case, anyway). I'm about to go download the update on my 360.

Ah, I think you misunderstood. I basically meant probably only a minority of people are going to experience problems (if NXE is the source of 'em).

Well, I have just made the transition and no issues yet. I had a shit-faced grin and nearly wet myself during the entire opening cinematic. I think that means I'm officially a fangirl.

        Thanks a lot, Microsoft.

Indeed so, I was submerging my 360 in a tank of water when the update was happening and now it's bricked for some reason. I tried another xbox and set it on fire while it was updating and it fails to function as well. This is truly serious business.

I had mine update, it just didn't tell me, downloaded, black screen then eventually the NXE appeared, I assumed it didn't want me to get paranoid over the fact that it was silently updating itself without telling me. Either way it works like a charm and TVersity only required the 360 to download the MPEG4 pack again.

Same can be said for 360 fanboy's trying to bring up rumors about MGS4 being ported to the 360.

How can the new update produce the RROD if the RROD is hardware failure?

That website is obviously being attacked by dickless PS3 fanboys with a severe case of Gears 2 Butthurt. Every single *bleep*ing post says their 360 RRoD'd. No way in hell is that possible.

Obviously it's fanboys/fangirls just being lame. I got NXE last night and I was very impressed. The menus are very sleek and easy to use. The avatar system is pretty cool, beats Mii's by a freaking mile, and the intro video was very slick. I haven't had a problem at all, in fact I've gotten an easier time from the update. I've been using an ad hoc connection from my 360 to my computer, sharing it's net connection with it connected to my wired router. Before it would take ages to connect to my computer and then the router but now it does it really fast, which is great!

All I can say is well done Microsoft for improving on an already great system.

NXE is bloody awesome. A slick and clean interface. I hate the avatar system, but it just made me a custom one and my gamertag still was available for show off, so its awesome.

Its an amazing upgrade, and the installation of games is a nice feature; especially being optional.

I really can't stand the NXE at all. I much preferred the old dashboard, and so far I've noticed much slower loading times for menu screens and the like on the NXE.

i also have not had any major problems with the NXE. the only thing i noticed was that the marketplace was down for about 5mins around 12pm est. other than that i really like the NXE. the only problem i have is with the netflix streaming videos. Im a netflix subscriber with an unlimited watch now account and its just amazing that all sony content on netflix watch now cannot be viewed through the 360. now its somewhat understandable that sony would do this, but netflix needs to tell sony to cut the
sh!t. Great way of looking like sore losers sony!

Guys that's one site thats complaining about this out of many. Check the alternative links I posted, there seem to be quite a few people who have started to complain about it causing them grief.

But personally, I believe that those that get the problems will be the loudest. So even if it's one in a million people that has the problem, that one will be loud, and the other 999,999 people wont care and wont stand up for it much, since theres is working, and so they decide to actually play the game instead... this usually results into it appearing as if A LOT of people complaining since those that should back it up, are busy playing the system, and those that can't do that, are in the forums complaining...

...My point being, this is a MINOR problem for XBOX360 overall, it's just that those that have the problems are being particularly vocal.

Well if it is a minor problem, why should anyone else care or believe it if it isn't widespread?

I think that's what everyone is talking about.

It's amazing how the opinion of probably only a handful of gamers can all of a sudden constitute the opinion of all other gamers as if owning the same console binds us together. Thus far, NXE is working just fine for me, and I'd say millions of other gamers who got it. There's nothing more agitating that a person who involuntarily includes me in their group or some statistic.

The NXE broke my 360. And I haven't even updated it.

    Onvacation Nov 20, 08
One thing you gotta remember is that, as a rule of thumb, Nobody reports to news sites that their download went ok and nothing went wrong at all, but almost ALL of the few whose download did bork up for some reason WILL report it, Thats why the problem seems so widespread.

I work with customers at my work and that is absolutely TRUE!!! No one calls me when their shit works, only when it's broken and they want to raise hell about it.

*shrug* no issues, then again I seem to luck out when these so called dire things occur... in that I don't seem to encounter them.
