Staff members of Sony can now enjoy the closed beta trial of Home, the virtual world of the PlayStation Network. A more open beta will begin in the summer, with an expected release of September.

May 1, 2007 - A handful of PS3-packing Europeans are jumping into Home today. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced that the first-phase, closed beta trial of the program has begun with internal staff members and testers.

Home is a virtual world built into the PlayStation Network. Users can create and customize avatars to represent themselves online, view trophies they have been awarded for progress in games, chat with friends and watch movies.

The beta test will be opened up to a larger population, including those registered on the official site, this summer. The program is expected to be released in September.

I believe the closed beta has begun either today or tomorrow for Europe, as well. Hopefully we (as in web developers) can get something out of it like xbox's live in which we can use to offer more features to users of Neoseeker.

I don't get it. The closed beta has begun but on the official Home site, the site appears with the message check back later? I don't think people could have possibly signed up that quickly.
