Gamers Play John Conner in the Terminator Salvation Video Game

JelalTrueshot | November 20, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 3
WB Interactive has announced the Terminator Salvation video game. Apparently, it is going to be similar to Gears of War in gameplay (at least that's what I gather from the description) and will come out the same time the movie does. Color me skeptical however, as most Terminator games that have been released (save for the original back in VGA mode) have not been that great! I do, however, have faith in GRIN.
The upcoming Terminator Salvation will have a videogame tie in all its own. The official video game will be released in 2009 on the same day as the film, according to WB Interactive, will be a third-person actioner and will put players in the role of John Conner as they try to stop the armies of Skynet. It is being developed by GRIN...

Thats not new, haven't you guys played Terminator: Dawn of Fate? Kyle Reese is the main character and there are no Terminators playable.

That's the biggest joke yet. In a Terminator game I want to play as the terminator. That's like having a Die Hard game and never getting to play as John McClane.

Thats a pretty stupid analogy i mean John Connor is the purpose of all the movies, it makes sense to play as John Connor in a game about a movie that focuses on him for the whole thing.

I have to agree with Tank here. While the series may focus on the story of John Connor, in a series such as the Terminator I'd much rather play as the bad ass Terminator than a human. More strength, power, abilities - more fun.

I'd like to have both sides playable, imagine multiplayer mode!

You don't play as the Terminator in Terminator: The Arcade Game (arcade, SNES, Genesis I think) which was, I'm pretty sure, the most popular Terminator game released.

I don't mind playing as Kyle Reese. That dude is cool.

Besides, even though you play as the Terminator in many terminator games, you always seem to be able to be killed by a couple gun shot wounds anyways.

Then don't play the game. The old games wasn't accurate to the movie anyway, which was probably why it sucked. Now I remembered playing the games and I thought it was fun, but it wasn't great. Playing as the terminator in the game is a cheap way to play. Not to mention the fact this latest game focuses on the Movie right? Which focuses on John Connor, thus the game needs to be focused on John Connor. The first movie john wasn't born yet. The second movie he was a kid, thus not being able to do anything. This one, he's a man, thus can do stuff.

Personally im thrilled about this. I was wondering when they'll start having him as the main character.

All I have to say: The Terminator 2029 series. Released by Bethesda (yep, the elder scrolls/fallout 3 devs) back in 1992 on DOS. The entire series of games was THE best Terminator games ever created:
