Thanksgiving is coming to the troops in video game form. The technological devices are said to help with rehabilitation, not to mention providing some simple fun. Soldiers' Angels are a non profitable organisation providing technology to injured soldiers.
The Wii has received great positive feedback from it. Donna Jo Blake stated that it has physical, mental and emotional helping factors. Let's hope it brings them a good Christmas.
In the last three years, Valour-IT has donated more than 2,700 voice-controlled laptops to severely wounded military men and women, and has supplied additional items that are a surprising fit in a recovery regimen Wii game systems and hand-held GPS devices.
As Donna Jo Blake, Chief of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation for the Department of Veterans Affairs in eastern Colorado reports, We are aware of many colleagues throughout the Veterans Affairs medical system who have developed dynamic Wii programs in multiple areas, including PolyTrauma, Spinal Cord Injury/Traumatic Brain Injury, and Long Term Care...Wii gaming has great potential for physical, mental and emotional well-being. We are delighted to receive this support from Soldiers Angels.
Established in 2003, Soldiers Angels is a volunteer-based, nonprofit organization providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the U.S. Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, as well as veterans and military families.
