In only 3 years since the Xbox 360 was released it has already surpassed the original Xbox in sales, this is quite a feat to accomplish within the time span.

Hot on the heels of last week's news that Microsoft's Xbox 360 is outselling the PS3 in Europe by more than 2 to 1; the company has now revealed that the Xbox 360 has surpassed sales of the original Xbox - totalling 25 million units.

Not to destroy the moment, but its hardly impressive. I mean in 4 years of xbox 1 it got 25 million console sales worldwide, yet xbox 360 3 years to match it, you'd think with console that had a year start would have surpassed it already.

But, considering this console will probably outlast its predecessor, I will say congrats.

Well we all saw it coming when they first announced the 360. And it was pretty much given since they cancelled the original.

So not that great a feat =/

Thats saying the wii outsold the gamecube.

Or the PS3 out---.....err.......thats saying the wii outsold the gamecube.

lol. Lets see anything out sell the PS2 before we worry about how the PS3 is doing by comparison. No console or handheld yet made has even matched it.

Can't say I'm at all surprised. The the original Xbox's low sales numbers the 360 was bound to beat it sooner or later. Same for the GC and the Wii. When you only sell some 20+ million units you can only go up from there. Or you face bancrupcy like Sega.

Haha, poor poor Sega. I wonder what the world would be like if the Sega Dreamcast had been a complete success and had been the best selling console of its generation?

          I still ponder this.

Maybe in this world Sonic would kick ass and take names (only working on 1 console and only that console means they'll add more depth into there games......and less bugs...

Where the Nights Sequel was a complete success that thwarted LoZ:TP.

Where Jet Set Radio had a sequel!

And they had there own handheld.

But alas these are the dreams of a dreamer in the real world.

Sega made a new console every year or so and jumped the gun too soon on the Dreamcast. Leaving them falling short when the jump to the tech in the PS2, Gamecube and original Xbox came around.

Jet Set Radio has a sequel, Jet Set Radio Future on the original Xbox, that should be a download on the 360 as an xbox original. Or make another new JSR, that would be amazing, Jet Set Radio on the next gen.

They weren't making new consoles persay. They were making to many useless peripherals for the Genesis. So they wasted a ton of money there even though the Genesis itself was doing fairly well. Then they followed it up with the Saturn which was an utter failure.

The Dreamcast wasn't to early a jump it came out when it had to for Sega. If they had waited there wouldn't even be a Dreamcast. They abandoned the sinking ship that was Saturn and hoped the Dreamcast would be an adequate life raft. The problem is gamers have long memories. And with the Saturn being such a failure many people weren't ready to accept another Sega console. Especially when Sony had something better coming in about a year.

Actually Gamers long memories it part of the reason why the Gamecube did so comparatively poorly. Many people were disappointed in the N64's lack of games and went over to Sony's new little PS1. Which was a really incredible system at the time. And it didn't hurt that the Saturn sucked and devs weren't releasing anything for the N64.
