Resident Evil fans have been split down the middle regarding Resident Evil 5, with many loving the series' more action-oriented shift, while others want the series to return to it's survival-horror roots.
It seems that ex-Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami, agrees with the latter groups, claiming that he won't play Resident Evil 5 because "it's not going to be the game I would have made".

Ex-Capcom Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami has said that he won't play Resident Evil 5.

"I probably won't play it. I won't like it, because it's not going to be the game I would have made," he said. "It'll just cause me stress if I play it. I think it could be fun for gamers to play it, but not for someone who has developed Resident Evil games.

He makes a good point. But it still has a chance to turn out to be great.

I don't think he does. He was the director of RE4 and RE5 is basically an upgrade on RE4's own design. Quite frankly I think he's just whining about the fact that his franchise is going without him...too bad RE5 will actually have a storyline, unlike RE4's shallow excuse of a story.

At the very least, he can give Jun Takeuchi and Kenichi Ueda some props for making a game that might actually surpass its predecessor and stop acting like a little kid.

I agree with Shinji Mikami i mean i don't care if he made Resident Evil 4 as that is a classic among fans but most fans thought it would be a one off. By the sounds of this it was going to be a one off a more action/adventure style game as a mere spin off for a game. If thats the case then i am sad that Shinji isn't making this game and the closest i will get to this installment is the demo, if it is good i may rent it but i don't really want to give them money to pervert the series further away from what it was originally intended to be.

I love the old resident evil games they are actually some of my favourite games of all time and I'd like to see an old style resident evil game come out but just because 5 is different doesn't mean it's not good. He sounds like a spoilt kid, just play the game and stop whining seriously.

Resident Evil 4 pretty much screwed the series over anyways. =/

Don't know why he's so disapointed since RE5 is shaping up to be better.

It even has *gasps* a story :0

Wow I completely agree with him. I was just talking to my friend the other day about the exact same thing. The first resident evil games were great. The camera angles, only having enough ammo to use sparingly, true survival horror. They seem to have made it into more of a shooter than its original game idea that everyone loved. Its like the made a whole new game and stuck resident evils name on it . Suxs balls eh?
