"Finally it's about time" I hear you all say. Indeed it is time we got some news about Battlefield Heroes and who else to give that update than your very own Battefield Heroes Beta Tester, me. Now before I begin, as a beta tester I signed an agreement called the NDA Violation, this agreement restricts me from telling the public anything that I have witnessed within the beta iteself.
At most I can tell you that I am one of the many avid testers and that I enjoyed the beta, in fact so much I clocked 310 hours between September and November, crazy huh.
"So what are the updates SJ?" I hear you yell at the computer screen in hopes I mentally pick up on your impatience and lack of tolerance to my insane ramblings. Well there are three updates actually and all happened in the same gap we all know as November.
First Update - Well officially since November 14th the closed beta of the game was actually closed. It seems DICE feel that we have done enough testing on our end and now it is time to bring the project back inside. They shall continue and this is in their own words "Polish the backend" hehehe of the game. Bewildered and lost like deers trapped in car headlights. Every tester was destroyed from this day onward. That is until the second update occurred.
Second Update - James Salt, senior producer within DICE decided to give the testers and the public a "What we are up to" update. In this he stated that the leader boards within the game were slow to load and so they are working on making them faster to load. Along with this DICE are known for their use, well I think they are the only company to use 3D designed websites and so Battlefield Heroes shall be no different.
Overall it seems the website itself as well as a few web related areas are being overhauled to be faster loading and more responsive along with a whole new design. This brings onto the last update.
Third Update - Forums, yes the Battlefield Heroes website now has temporary forums for those avid players wanting to discuss the game. The community team of DICE are always on hand and personally they get my utmost respect and kudos since due to the opening of the forums on November 24th, they have had nothing but abuse and spam about the lateness and lack of release of BFH. Being a moderator myself I know it takes a lot of patience and tolerance and although they do get paid for their job, to have to deal with such abuse is just absurd. The forums can be found here.
Altogether the game is running behind by several months, the initial release date was September 2008 but considering that DICE have 250 employees and only 1/10 of that team is assigned to BFH while the others were busy with another DICE game that is very well known here at Neoseeker, Mirror's Edge, then it comes to no surprise as to why the game is late. Not only that but even a professional company can be held back by unexpected bugs and problems.
It is still unclear whether the game will re-open next year as a closed beta, open beta or full release but consider this soldier as your new reporter.
This has been the National Commando, Salvenius, signing out. Keep on fighting soldiers!
