Top 5 Sonic Games

Sonic Unleashed recently hit most major platforms just last month, and while critics say its better than previous titles, it still isn't the next gen Sonic everyone is hoping for. One of the main reasons labeled by critics are the Werehog sections, where you trade speed for strength and bash the hell of Dr Eggman's minions brawler style. Apparently these levels sucked, so why were they included? Because according to one Sonic Unleashed developer Sonic's most liked feature, his speed, makes level crafting incredibly hard.
"I asked one of the developers at TGS, you know I was like, come on everybody just wants Sonic running, like whats up with the werehog? And he was like, well, heres the deal... he runs at this miles per hour, kilometers per hour, and he laid out all of the statistics on how fast this hedgehog goes, and he was like In order to make a game where Sonic is running and everybody enjoys the whole thing we'd have to design this many miles of level, and it was some ungodly number. And he's like and that would be like maybe a three hour game and I was like wow, well that kinda stinks and he's like yeah, so we gotta do this other stuff."

i understand the plight. the levels need to be pretty big. but look at the sonic heroes. those levels were perfectly fine. BUT they were wore down with shitty 'team' mechanics. sonic rivals. even better. those levels are just fine in length, and sonic is as fast as ever. why cant we just get something like those with some enemies thrown into the mix?
this is a lame ass excuse if i've ever heard one. sega is washed up, out of ideas, and just stubbornly reluctant to give the fans the simple oldschool-rooted sonic game that they want, and deserve after all these years of total shit.
they need to just admit that their horrible ideas of tacking these jackass gimmicks onto every sonic game ever ruins the game.
Then why not make a sonic game 3d but a side scroller kind of way. Kind of like LBP, just instead sonic. Basically what im saying is make the same concept of the old games, instead amp the graphics to 3d, and make te ILLUSION of going fast.
This is what I've been crying out for for several years. This is what they should do.
Sonic Unleashed Levels are fully detailed, have unique enviromental architecture(in 3-D,no sprites in sight), and the speed at which sonic goes(up to 300mph) would indeed make a level atleast 5 minutes at most. The 360/ps3 probably cannot handle massively massive levels for sonic to run and attack through.
ALL I WANT IS SPEED! I WANT 100,000 MILES OF OLD SCHOOL SONIC RING COLLECTING MAYHEM!
Sorry for the caps, but I am really really bitter and PO'd at what Sega is allowing to happen to sonic... because they don't want to design X-amount of levels and length?? WTF!?!?!
I think Sonic could do well in the 3D arena if they just focus on the story, make that solid and make the gameplay work well. I don't care if the story revolves around Sonic losing his speed, that will solve their problem right there but i think the main issue with Sonic is the transition from 2D to 3D has never quite worked. If they re-invent Sonic and change their focus then it could work but right now Sonic was not made for 3D and they haven't changed the core gameplay to suit that new environment.
Are you telling us to get rid of everything that made 2D Sonics successful, and try and innovate the 3D Sonics even more?? You've got to be shitting me.
All you do is run all over the place, collect rings to survive and fight.
Nostalgia strikes nerves with these Sonic games, but meh...a mascot is a mascot. Hopefully we'll see some stand-out titles involving Sonic soon.
Seriously I love the new Sonic game, and could careless what all the haters have to say. I think what's change isn't the game but the fans. They're all to spoiled with the old and not accepting how awesome some of the current games are. While a few haven't hit the insanely fun of the old, to say the new ones aren't fun is stupid.
Holy crap, people acctually say that about Mario?
