Electronic Theatre delivers the news of New Concept Gaming's latest gaming prephiral - jOG. jOG demands players jog on the spot to control movement in videogames.

In the basic mode of operation, the user plays their game in the normal way but with one significant difference. jOG detects when the player takes a step and only allows movement in the game while the player is jogging on the spot. Direction and all the other functions are still controlled by the standard gamepad...

They showed something like this at Digital Life last year, except it was for the PC.

An interesting concept - I look forward to seeing where gaming goes in the next 10 years.

Now this is a really interesting concept. It can improve your skill, it can be good for your health, and what if this concept get implimented in fighting games, or action games?

      That wouldn't work...

Because action games involve more than jogging.

Nice spelling and use of sarcasm.

First of all, I made one spelling mistake. ONE, and I've fixed it now.

Also, if you though I was being sarcastic, then that suggests that action games to you are just jogging, without even changing direction.

So I fixed my comment to make a little easier to understand for people like you.

And no, I'm not being sarcastic.

Would appear you made at least two. Because from where I'm sitting there is still at least one.

Hmm.. yes, your right. Then what is the purpose of this device? To do jogging in games? If this is the only thing you can do, then i dont agree at beeing a great device, it is rather stupid actualy.

As it says in the article, jOG is "compatible with existing games consoles and games...", meaning it simply replaces the motion gestured on the Analogue Stick with the kinetic motin detected by jOG. In my opinion, it'd be great for fat kids and games like Gears of War, but anything with a more rapid motion or precision movemetn required - i.e. Super Mario Galaxy - would be almost unplayable.

Wait a second, this looks like another gaming peripheral gimmick, don't we have one of those already...oh right the Wii Remote.

Sorry I don't like this. Games are meant to be played while relaxing not making you jog to control your character with this device, or flail your arms like a bird with the Wii remote. Shocking as this sounds, most people prefer standard controllers to play games. And since there's more stuff going on within a game then jogging, I see no benefit for this.
