In a recent interview with MTV's Josh Horowitz. Actress Sigourney Weaver revealed that she has been asked to apear in an Aliens video game, but turned it down because it was not true to the character of Ripley.

It also appears as though she will not be reprising her role in the upcoming Ghostbusters game, despite most of the original actors returning as voice-actors for the game.

this is what she said about the calamitous pitch she was given to be in an “Aliens” game:

“They wanted me to do Ripley and I said, Well you have Ripley killing aliens but also sick people and other marines! And every other word out of my mouth was a curse word. I’m not a nun or anything, but I said, ‘This is not true to the character.’ And they also showed me six video games and said it was going to be made by this company. There was one called ‘Rednecks’ where they shoot animals. The whole thing was so ridiculous.”

Josh also asked Weaver about whether she would be involved in next year’s Atari-published “Ghostbusters” game. “I’d be part of one that was high quality,” she said. See? She likes games. But, she added: “I don’t think they even asked me to be a part of the [new] ‘Ghostbusters’ one. If they did I don’t remember it and maybe I was just busy.”

actually, after reading the story, she would have liked to voice ripley
reason why she didnt, the ripley from the game differs to much from the films, and in such a way the she doesnt feel comfortable doing
i suggest you read these stories before making assumptions

Its not my fault that the articles are misleading. THe point of a GG article is to tell us about the article so we don't have to go to source every time.

Precisely my point in another article yet I get trashed by the misleading article when I decided not to read it all. Makes me wonder if people actually know what the purpose of making articles on this site is.

While I did love aliens, I never really liked Sigourney Weaver much though.

Both your complaints are void seeing as how articles are posted so that the entire thing is actually read, not just the title.

All the required info is in the title, description and quote. I don't know how any of it is misleading?

And the point of a Gamegrep article isn't to tell people about an article so they don't have to go to source. This site encourages people to click on the "source" link. An excerpt from the original source isn't even compulsory.

Wow people, I seriously don't care. Why are you even making this a discussion?

ali3n your post is void since my complaint had nothing to do with the title. Stop assuming shit.

Also Roz, gamegrep articles is supposed to summarize the article source in your own words, so we don't always have to click on the source to read it.

Do you even bother thinking before you do this or do you simply hit your head on the keyboard and hope that everything makes sense?

Here let me make this easy for you, when complaining about misleading TITLES, you have a problem with TITLES, therefore you are in fact complaining about TITLES.

Regardless of whether it can be summarised or not the point of posting articles is to read the entire thing if it interests before commenting on it.

Thats ENOUGH, this is NOTHING to be arguing about, there is nothing to gain from this, its a completely pointless argument, knock it off.

ali3n no you're still wrong. The title here is saying she's disgusted by the offer, but as we know, lord of vice city proved otherwise, which the title should reflect the actual article and not state something which never happen, thus the very definition of MISLEADING.

Oh and I was responding to complaints in the past how the article itself was misleading not the title. I'm well aware about the rules of submitting articles ali3n I don't need you to tell me about them. I've made 100s of articles in about 1.5 years.

Congratulations on working out what misleading means, could not have done that without you. lord of vice city did no such thing, all he did was correct Zero and X's assumption that she hated video games in general or considered herself too good for them. Was she still 'disgusted' by the offer to play the Ripley in question? Yes.

          Where are those complaints?

Err .. no. The description and quote on a Gamegrep article is there to give a brief summary of the article, to entice people to click on the source link and read more.

Gamegrep isn't here to leech news from other websites and give nothing in return. If you want all the info on an article, you have to click on the source link. You can't claim that articles are misleading if you don't bother to read all the info including the source.

Weaver also didn't like how they strung the Alien movie series out so long.

She was the one who demanded Ripley died in Alien 3.

    So I'm not too surprised.

Oh wow, I'm surprised. Maybe if she voiced either of those characters, it'd help get her old, wrinkly, untalented ass back in the lights. How many good movies has she come out with in the past decade? Exactly.

Untalented? You have a strange definition of talent.

    HisServant77 Dec 6, 08
Nothing wrong with her not wanting to do it. It's always nice to have the original voice actors do the voices in video games. But . . . I can definitely understand why she wouldn't want to.

      Drogo Baggins Dec 6, 08
      Yeah, I'm with HisServant.

It's her decision. And I don't see it as betraying fans of the series.

Obviously, Weaver knows the character better than the company making the game, and they're not being true to the character.

I suppose the game will still happen, but I actually think it's great that she's refusing to support the character being changed in a (seemingly) large way. It's better than her saying, "I get money for this? Okay, I'll do it!"

It shows she really has respect for the character.

I love that picture. Well it's her right not to do it I suppose, if she doesn't feel comfortable doing it that's fine.

there was so much cursing in that game compared to the movie.
