You probably remember the news article about the poor sales for Pacific Rift and the arguement about releasing at a bad time frame. Well it seems like the game has made a comeback and has sold 1 million copies worldwide. Which is a pretty good seeing as the first Motorstorm as sold a bit more then 3 million copies and has been out longer.

The original Motorstorm was one of the games shown at E32005 that garnered massive attention by the media. Though the trailer proved to be CGI, the final product was very close to the target trailer in graphics, and absolutely blew it away in gameplay. Motorstorm proved to be a very good seller for Sony, and eventually helped move systems when it became part of a PS3 bundle pack. Its recent successor, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, improved on everything that the first game had to offer, and it would seem that recently released sales data would reflect that step forward.

Just a month after hitting shelves, Pacific Rift has already racked up over a million sales worldwide. This would be quite a feat in any situation, but considering that Pacific Rift is a PS3 exclusive title launching among the other holiday games, its sales are simply extraordinary

Good to see it getting itself established, even if it's a month later.

It was only a matter of time, I mean Motorstorm 2 is better then the first, and isn't that bad. I knew the timing was bad, I can see this and a few games getting more sales for christmas.

I don't doubt that graphically and gameplay-wise they are good games, but the one thing that REALLY put me off them, was that the slightest nudge resulted in a crash and that meant you went almost to the very back of the race. I played the demo for Pacific Rift and they had not improved on this part of the gameplay, which was why I never went out and bought it.

Well you think driving over 60mph and getting a slight nudge wouldn't result in a crash? You do realize Racers are supposed to be realistic right?

Realism shouldn't get in the way of fun though, even though I think that was part of the appeal of Motorstorm, the crazy crashes.
