2008: Console Showdown - PS3 vs. Wii vs. 360 :: Part 1

IGN has put the best of the Wii,PS3, and 360 exclusives head to head for the year 2008 based on their scores to see which system has had the best year. This first Showdown is for the console exclusives of 2008.

Looking at the breakdown of scores, it's clear that while the PlayStation 3 only has three more exclusives than the Xbox 360, it has quality on its side, with four games scoring 9 or higher, compared to only one on Xbox 360. The Wii, meanwhile, comes in with two. All three systems have exclusive strengths and weaknesses, but if we had to call a winner - and we do - we'd give it to the PlayStation 3: Sony's system has the highest standard of exclusives, paired with plenty of variety.

    like 5 of PS3's exclusive games on that list are casual....
    and everyone bashes the wii for casual games *facepalm*..none of those Wii games are casual. what does that say about PS3? lacking in that area (of good games that aren't casual or retarted 3rd party games like golf)
    anyway. i feel really depressed i sold my MGS4 because i just remembered how good it is.
    i'm also glad to see that Banjo Kazooie N&B made it on the list, i was wondering about getting that.
    thank god for no Wii_____ games on the list.

      The PS3 had more overall good games than the other two consoles, but the 360 has the "big games" like Gears 2 and Fable 2 that sell massively due to already existent popularity, and the Wii sells everything like hotcakes for reasons beyond me.

      And really, your idea of "casual games" is quite skewed if you see 5 on the PS3's list.

      I'm actually surprised PS3 won, from IGN. I know PS3 had a very good year and some big apps, but I thought 360 was going to win.

      Tbh, Its not 'Better' than anything.

      In my opinion the 360 and the PS3 are both as equal as each other, and if you want to go against that then i'll just end up labelling you a fanboy.

      I've only played one game on the PS3 and thats MGS4 and i finished that game around about 20minutes ago. The game shows off the PS3 and is probably the best game i have ever played.....ever.

      But that being said no one can deny the 360 has alot of good exclusive on it that rival MGS4 and show off the 360 just as good. I ain't played Gears 2 yet so i can't talk about that but things such as Left 4 Dead, Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect.

      From the way im looking at it, Both the 360 and the PS3 are indeed equal competitors and if it was just the PS3 or the 360 on their own....we'd all be extremly dissapointed.

      Btw im not including the Wii caus i dont count it as a competitor.

        They are equal over all. But the point of the article was who had the better year. 2008 really was the year of the PS3. Now if they can just keep it up going into 2009 and get the price lowered they might actually catch up after all.
