The casual nature of the Wii is continuing to benefit people in big ways. We've heard about such stories as kids learning with autism through the Wii. We've also read how old people love their Wii.

Which brings us to this article about the big seller, Wii Fit. Old people have a different experience when it comes to falling down. Rather than a graze or cut, they'll likely break a hip. This can be prevented with proper balance but due to declining body senses and other functions, it's difficult for the old people to stay upright.

Wii Fit is now being employed to try and help them improve their sense of balance, reduce risk and injuries and increase their fun. The different games makes living go from a chore to a good laugh.

“The goal in terms of patients with balance problems is to keep them interested in working on their balance and prevent falls,” Sears explained.

Because it’s a game, Sears said you score as you go along, and if a patient is doing well on a certain game and their score is improving, you know their balance is improving.

A crowd of about 20 onlookers cheered as Hatch made her way down the river, hitting the canyon only a few times.
