Heavy Rain is an upcoming PS3 exclusive game that will be focusing heavily on the story and immersing the player into the world. And that couldn't be more apparent then when looking at these statistics. The Dev's have truly put a lot of time and effort into making this game.

The script

2,000 pages long
60 scenes, each about 15-20 minutes long, most, but not all of which you see on any play-through
40,000 words of non-linear dialogue
Based on 6,000 pages of notes and references
15 months in development

The art design

Two weeks scouting for locations on the East Coast of the USA
15 months of design by ten people
Photos, topographical gameplay maps, sketches of every item, paintings of every scene

The outsourcing to Asia

Over 100 people involved outside Quantic Dream
480 man-months of work
Based on an "outsourcing bible" and "level architect blueprints"

The motion capture

All done on-site at Quantic Dream in Paris
170 days of shooting across nine months
Over 70 actors and stuntmen involved
Casting sessions in Paris and London
30,000 unique animations recorded

This sounds promising. Not assuming that all high production valued titles constitute instant success, but its good to hear the development force behind the title.

Now please...can we not compare this to Alan Wake.

Focusing on story? That's pretty wild. I hope it turns out for'em.

It's always nice to see more story-focused games. I hope this turns out to be awesome.

Good god, that's indepth. Let's just hope it ends up being worth it.

I'll be interested to see how that beastly script ends up unfolding in the game.

Like Mirror's Edge, I see this game getting some mixed reviews.

Please man, you barely know enough to judge it, much less forecast review scores. Give'er a chance; if it turns out like crap, oh well, better luck next time. If it turns out great, all the more reason to be excited.

Conversely, Lair had great production values too, and we all know how that turned out.

Who says I'm judging it? I'm just saying, personally, I can see this game getting mixed reviews. God stop blowing everything I say out of proportion. You think everyone is going to ORGASM over this game and call it the best game of all time? No, of course not. Mirror's Edge from what i've been hearing is cool and innovative, but there is still some complaints that ends up being similar.

And where am I forecasting review scores? I don't recall stating "Oh man I can see this game getting 9.2 on IGN, but 8.0 on gamespot"? That's right I didn't forecast scores.

I also never said this game will turn out crap, I said I can SEE it having some mix, since not every thing that comes out being innovative and new gets high remarks. It's a rarity and mostly why devs go and make sequels or prequels of games that works.

Very promising, I doubt even Final Fantasy or MGS could top that.

Final Fantasy or MGS topping it in what way? The amount of time in development?

I hope the game turns out well, there has been alot fo time spent on it with some pretty innovative ideas, lets hope its a success for the developers at least.

The length of the script and amount of dialogue, and possibly time in development as well.

After all this hype over the amount of effort and man hours going in to story and immersion, It'll probably be the seemingly non-existent game play that makes or breaks this game.
