Christian games developer Left Behind Games reveals it will partner with Serendipity House to release its controversial PC RTS "Left Behind: Eternal Forces" for Asian gaming markets later this year. Serendipity House is initially planning to sell the game through non-profit channels affiliated with Christian organizations. Interestingly, Serendipity House is also attempting to localize the game in Chinese for by 2008; a curious move if their market happens to include mainland China, which currently frowns upon non-state sanctioned religious worship.
It will be interesting to see the extent Left Behind Games can penetrate the Asian gaming market with Left Behind: Eternal Forces. The company itself has received criticism many religious groups including Christians thanks to its themes.
Serendipity House Ltd (www.serendipityhouse.com.hk), an affiliate of Dr. Gordon Chiu, and a premier distribution company in Hong Kong, has agreed to oversee and monitor the promotions regarding LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces in Asia. Serendipity House currently works with multiple American and European companies to distribute their products overseas. Some existing brands and partners that Serendipity House represents include: CitySuper Stores, Estee Lauder, FANCL, LaVigne Organics, L'Oreal (Shu Uemura, Biotherm), Seventh Generation, Simply Organic Beauty, Watsons Pharmacies, Whole Foods, etc.
Dr. Chiu commented, "Online gaming is doing phenomenally in China. The Chinese population is the largest ethnic population in Asia. All of Asia looks to Hong Kong as the trendsetter."
"We are pleased to be associated with a premier distribution company such as Serendipity House and are looking forward to and welcome new players in Asia to the gaming community for LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces," said Troy Lyndon CEO of Left Behind Games.
