Square Enix developer Hiroshi Takai has given a big endorsement to Microsoft's console, stating that it's "a lot easier" to work with than the PS3.

"It's been the team's first time working with Xbox 360 and the Unreal Engine," he said. "In both cases the experience has been a positive one. In fact, as we've only just finished work on Last Remnant I don't even know what my next project is going to be at Square Enix. However, I'm very much hoping it'll be for Xbox 360 as it's been a lot easier to work with than PlayStation 3."

Course it's easier... it means they can take short cuts and create games such as Infinite Undiscovery and The Last Remnant... have you seen the quality of the games... filled with bugs... crap stories... rushed if anything. I'm really interested to see how the game will be on the PS3... in any case, it's the quality of the games and thus what can be done on the console that should matter.

Kru Edit: This isn't a dig at Microsoft or the XBOX360, but at Square-Enix and the quality of games they've been making recently...

Agreed, have you seen the LAG in Last Remnant?

Also Infinite Undiscovery was made by Tri-Ace, not SE, that game doesn't count.

Yes, we can see how easy it is to work with, Last Remnant must have been chucked together in six months.

I think what their really saying is "the Unreal Engine, which we have no idea how to use, is hard to use with the PS3"

A long long time ago, I read a huge Gameinformer article about Oblivion before it came out. Hell, this issue came out before the 360. Anyway, it talked about how the tools with the 360 developer kits allowed them to spend less money and time on certain things. For instance, you could insert a number of trees and then the developer kit would distribute them throughout the world randomly. Throughout the years, I've read numerous articles about how hard the PS3 is hard to develop with. From my memory about the articles, the reason for the PS3 being so hard to work with was a combination of the complexity of the core processors and Sony's inability to make a good developer kit. This is just another article to add to the list.

But I agree. Fat load it did for The Last Remnant.

I think it was mainly the Unreal Engine that did it, Epic doesnt exactly help when others want to use the engine. They'll give it to anyone who asks, but they dont show them how to use it right.

And I've played Infinite Undiscovery, not that bad really, and the only time I've had lag was when spamming special attacks. It wasnt bad lag either. But I can be biased, I've always been a fan of games where you controlled sheathing and unsheathing your weapon as its own action, like in Onimusha.

yes the unreal engine would be the main problem there... we've heard this all before with developers having problems with the ps3 and that engine S-E should do the homework

People who work on games should take a page from a gamers book. Most gamers don't play a game on the easiest difficulty just because it's easier.
We play on harder difficulties because it's more satisfying when we win.I would find the exact same thing in making game.Of course that doesn't mean all games should be made for PS3 but at least don't use it's difficulty in making games a reason to not make games for the system

Theres a difference when the harder one also demands for money whereas the easier one will actually go ahead and endorse you.

Theres also the fact that this is business, when the easier things tend to have a better turnout, you'll go for the more rewarding output for your business. In economics having self-satisfaction isnt worth losing money, and in this particular case, somewhere between some hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars.

    quote Final Blade
Its not the engine that's the problem, its how the gameplay is structured that's the problem for LR. Or at least according to what I'm hearing anyway. I don't know if the engine has any real reason to downplay game. I don't even think its a huge mistake for SE gaming. They're exploring with different things for new titles. FF13 and FF13v isn't going to be like that, since its being developed on the white engine(or whatever its called).
People please don't blindly assume it's the game engine. Anyway of course the 360 is easier to work with. It was known fact for awhile. I also agree with Gamesta.

I find it interesting that the developer does not know his next assignment. After the extreme amount of reviewer flack for all the performance issues of the game on the "easy to program for" 360, and the fact that Sony owns a sizable share in Square Enix, I wouldn't be surprised if his next project is updating his resume.

I agree. The PS3 is way too comlicated to get online and stuff.

Xbox 360 is much easier to use.

The PS3 is only to complicated to get online if you're a moron.
