A Next Metal Gear is... Metal Gear Solid Touch

A couple weeks ago, Konami released a teaser that was foretelling the coming of a new Metal Gear game. Kojima earlier had said that it would be explained in the coming weeks.

However, according to a leaked scan courtesy of blog Wii @ Everyday, Famitsu has confirmed that this new Metal Gear game will be Metal Gear Solid Touch for the iPod and iPhone.

It is set to release in Spring 2009 in Japan.

      The N-Gage version is very well made and a lot of fun, especially with its integration with the phone camera. Don't discount it yet.

        Hm, I'm not really discounting it all together. The only reason I give the iPhone shit is because of their sales pitch, claiming it beats the DS and PSP as far as handhelds go when they currently *don't* have the clout....

      For the record, check the date on the post. One of my buddies from MGO, and a die-hard MG fan of mine since our high school days replaying the old NES cart, PREDICTED on 12/06/08 that it would be for the iphone:

        Yea, I didn't say anything about it but this doesn't surprise me at all. Somewhere in teh back of my mind I just knew it would be an iPhone game. The formula makes perfect sense now.

      When did anyone ever say MGS is over?

      I believe the only thing that's been said that's even close to something like that is, "Solid Snake's story is over," and it's not like they can't change their minds about that.

      In fact, there are a few stories like this and this that say MGS is not over, and I'm sure I could find several others like those.

        Search harder, there's been many articles from Konami and Kojima stating MGS4 is the last MGS game. MGS4 is the last cause Solid Snake, according to Kojima stated after the end of the game it's been noted that Snake is ending his career and possible heading towards the grave. The game is about him. It wouldn't be MGS without Snake. It's like saying
        "Heavenly Sword 2 is going to happen without Nariko" Even though she was the main Character for the game. Or any other game that has a big time main character.

          Lol, search harder? I don't mean to argue with you, but I already found and gave you links to 2 articles that say MGS4 was not the last.

          Not only have you not shown me an article that says MGS4 was supposed to be the last, but even if you do, my articles would just negate yours so that neither of us are right or wrong.

          Also, saying that MGS wouldn't be MGS without Snake is definitely wrong.

          2. Are you referring to the "Solid" in Metal Gear Solid? It's called "Metal Gear Solid" because it's in 3D, not because of Solid Snake.

    Seriously though. This is just all your guys fault. There were numerous sites saying that this could be for the iPhone because Kojima has stated before how he would want to do something for it...yet everyone wants to believe that because it is green that it is going to be for the 360 or there is a new metal gear solid...

    All you had to do was look around and you would see that the chances were higher that this was going to be on the iPhone/touch wayyyy before any Metal Gear game hit the 360.

      I am a pathetic fanboy. I have no iphone, nor desire one because I have over 60gb of music I MUST always carry with me, current storage capacity for the iphone and being forced to leave awesome verizon for At&t = meh.... THAT SAID...

      I am pathetic, and this would be the only reason I got a damn iPhone... *sigh* Kojima. At least it wasn't for the 360! WOOT *ducks and hides*

    Sorry, I find this absolutely hilarious, there was a huge debate over the 360 and the PS3 and it turns out to be something not even related to the Big 3! As an iPod owner and avid MGS fan, I look forward to this. Should be interesting.

          iPhone and iTouch are pretty much the same thing. The only difference being one makes calls and text messages, the other doesn't.

    This also ties in to all the love Kojima gave Apple in Metal Gear Solid 4 itself, why would he stick the game on a Microsoft or Nintendo machine when the Apple products were scattered throughout the entire game, it was like he was hinting at some Apple love back when Metal Gear solid 4 came out.

      I wouldn't be surprised if there is more to it - product placement. MGS4 was a great marketing avenue for Apple if you think about it. And if you consider it was product placement and $$ attached, you can say it helped fund MGS4's development.

      Pure speculation, so don't take that as legit, just has me curious how much of this is "Kojima being a fan" vs. this being a "business relationship"
