In pretty god damn hilarious and sad news, EA has been caught using the Xbox 360 version of Tiger Woods 09 in the Wii version commercials. EA claims that the Nintendo footage "would not be of broadcast quality" so opted to lie to consumers on what product they would be receiving if they bought based on the graphical quality shown in the commercials.

EA used Xbox 360 footage of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 in a Wii advertisement. They even plastered a Wii logo on the footage to make it look legit, and when caught, reps came right out and said that it was basically because the Wii version looks crappy. It wasn't of broadcast quality. (Really? The game's quality isn't good enough for a commercial, but it is good enough to sell to me for $50? But I digress...) The Adverting Standards Authority ruled that the ad was misleading, and they can't run it anymore unless they change it.

Specifically, for Wii. Kinda like how poor Call of Duty's graphics are...for Wii.

Well, Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, etc, all had good, "TV worthy" graphics, so if developers DON'T make graphics as good as the can, then it's not the Wii's fault.

They're TV worthy, but not great and they also follow a different style than those of most standard games. It's easier to make "cartoon"-like graphics look good, with super smooth edges and few textures.

Didn't Activision get sued over a similar situation involving the Call of Duty commercials?

I think the graphics are fine. They are decent and are not pixelated or blurry.

If your refering to the picture next to the article, those are from the Xbox 360 version, I think.

I've noticed that this happens a lot on the back of game covers. A lot, if not nearly ALL PS2 games that are also out for PS3 use the PS3 footage on the back of PS2 cases. Shocking, but people who buy the games knowing what console it's for, should know the realistic graphics capabilities.

Do you seriously think that every consumer knows the graphic capabilities of each console?

Do you seriously think people are THAT smart?

Honestly they proved this whole wii graphics sucks thing LONG ago.

Granted it's nowhere near the capabilities of an xbox360 but to "not be of broadcast quality" is sheer bullshit.

Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime, Hell even LoZ which was a port may I add looked great!!

The Conduict is another over the top game graphics wise (for the wii)

And theres a whole slew of other great looking games that arn't made by ninty that look awesome.

So basically what EA is trying to say is

"wii where to lazy to make the graphics on the wii version of fine quality and think it blows, so instead we give you the 360 version, its just the wii can't do good graphics thats all"

I think this is a pretty common occurrence with games, I remember seeing a ad of Sonic Unleashed for the Wii with super high quality graphics. I knew almost instantly it was the 360 or PS3 version.

Ironic how alot of video's that's multiplatform end up being from 360 then PS3. Does that mean PS3 graphics sucks too?

Tough times in this economy, the ad guys can't afford the PS3
