Scores:

White Knight Bombicles: 7/7/8/7
--lots of optional content

Wow, I honestly didn't expect that from Famitsu. They usually like RPGs such as this one.

Yeah it's certainly a surprise... I was expecting 40/40 to be honest. Now I'm thinking that this game wont be as good as it's been appearing in the trailers. That said, I'm going to wait for those importers to play it when its released next week and let them give me their opinion.

I third this line of thought. A blow to the gut, I was salivating for a new epic Level 5 game. Wow. I'm going to still grab my import though and offer thoughts. I <3 my PS3 being region free.

I don't trust Famitsu at all, they gave Haze a tremendous score and that game was horrid.

It should also be noted that they gave The Last Remnant 38/40, which is quite a unique score as it is the highest. Most other reviewers have given it a consistent 6/10.

The difference between WKC and TLR is that TLR had the Square Enix logo on the front.

I honestly expected a better score than this. Famitsu reviewers are getting a bit weird, I must say.

They gave one of my gundam games a while back ago a 37 out of 40, or some huge rating. But i guess different times call for different measures. Either way I wont let this one review stop me completly from getting the game. More research is needed . This isnt by far the most indepth review. So only time will tell.

As others have said, Famitsu are very strange about their scores, I'll wait for more definitive news.

Famitsu's usually definitive and thorough with RPGs. I hope this isn't a trend; it's about time we got an exclusive that doesn't blow, and I guess WKC isn't providing that. Hooray for ANOTHER PS3 flop.

Last Remant was an RPG, and they gave it a near perfect score. Considering everyone else's reaction's are completely contradictory, I wouldn't put too much thought into this being a flop just yet.

I agree with Silver Mirror, Famitsu is pretty much been opposite of the popular opinon lately.

i never listen to there reviews after haze
i wasn't expecting perfect scores for the combat system for me looks weird and the characters look really uninteresting

EDIT: what is 29/40 a 7/10 if so not bad

Could we help it if we were hoping a 10/10 title? We were hoping this to be the next "best" RPG like FFVII and FFX was back in the days... that is still possible if the western audience love the game...

I personally dont think they played the game entirely through. All i heard were positives apart from online glitches...

I wasn't thinking of getting this a few months ago, but seeing how there was news of trophy support, I had a sudden change of heart. I figured why not try the game out and add more trophy's to my ever growing list. I know that sounds sad and all, but given this is a RPG I figured why not.

I like how almost all of you are basing your opinion about the game by what a review site said. It's about time to learn how to form an opinion yourself, after playing it or seeing more gameplay videos (preferably playing).

      Krunal Dec 18, 08
Seeing how you can't really do either at the moment, we can only base our opinions on that of others. Also remember that the gameplay videos at the moment are all in Japanese and I don't understand a word of it...

Haven't been paying attention, have you goldva? The game isn't even out yet...I wouldn't mind basing my opinion after playing it, but that's not possible atm. For now, as Krunal mentioned, we have to base our opinions on what reviewers are saying.

Besides, most of us are talking about Famitsu's rating for this game.

Im not going to let the opinions of Famitsu deter me from purchasing this game. Looks fantastic and 29/40 is by no means a bad score regardless.

For those of you who are stuck up on the score, just look back at their gradings of some of the past games. Haze *cough* You'll feel more confident.

Didn't Lair get a good score from Famitsu?

    Krunal Dec 18, 08
Just been going around a couple of forums, and the general consensus is that this is a good thing... all the games that Famitsu give near perfect scroes to turn out crapper than they are (FFXII certainly didn't deserve 40/40), and those that are less than 30/40 tend to be amazing... so this could very well be a good thing.

So a game that gets 1/40 would be godly? xD

A game that awesome would blow our minds into another dimension of gaming.

It'd be perfect... and we all know there's no such thing as a "perfect" game...

          Zero and X Dec 18, 08
Well technically speaking I don't think that score is possible anyways, unless they can give the game a zero.

          Storm* Dec 19, 08
Perhaps we can assume that whatever game they do not review gets a 0/40.

    Lost Rider Dec 18, 08
What about Tales of the Tempest? That got below 30 and it sucked. XD

But yeah, Famitsu DO overrate things.

Luckily for us (and I say that loosely) they still have to go through a localization process which will give them a good opportunity to tune this baby up. I'm hoping by the time it hits the west everything is ironed out and we see a truly amazing game.

I didn't think this game would be spectacular by any means, but I did think it would have gotten a better score than that. I'm not one to go by what reviews say though, since I generally have a different opinion then most. I tend to like a lot of games that have been given horrible ratings.

I'm definitely still going to get this game, mediocre score or not. There aren't very many RPGs for the PS3, and I think, with that being the case, it's still going to satisfy the regular customer.

Funny how a previous article stated Level 5 might be a PS3 exclusive developer if White Knight is a success, and yet these this review comes out. Then again Famitsu suck at reviewing games anyway.

I knew Famitsu gave lair a good score here's what the score was:

        quote source
Japanese publication Famitsu has awarded Lair a score of 9/7/8/9 which equates to a respectable 33/40

        Famitsu Reviews - PS3 Exclusive Haze (PS3, Ubisoft): 9 / 8 / 9 / 8 - (34/40)

Exactly my point. 2 of this generation's lowest rated games were rated 6 or 7 points short of perfection by Famitsu.
