Larry Hryb also known as Major Nelson has helped alot 360 owners in the past and many are grateful to him. His blog and podcast have served as an excellent bridge between the Xbox live community and Microsoft. On his latest podcast with his guest 'E' Major Nelson decided to get on the subject of the new Gears of War multiplayer map pack 'Hidden Fronts' and it's pricing. I personally think it was brave of Major Nelson to address this issue especially on the crazy backlash on the Guitar Hero II song pack. Did he learn the lesson there?

Nope.

Major Nelson mocked the community by putting on a nerd voice and saying
"Oh, wait a minute, 800 points, we want it for free!"

I am and I'm sure the rest of the Xbox live community are absolutely shocked in Major's behaviour and they guy we all had respect for is gone.

More Information from the podcast.

'When discussing Epic's influence in convincing Microsoft to increase the 360's memory from 256MB to 512MB, we get:

e: "I do find this amusing that on the one hand Epic are saying, "Ha ha we cost you a billion dollars", and on the other hand saying, "But these [map packs] should be free!"

Larry: "They love spending other peoples money"

Larry (and "e"), 360 consumers don't give a **** about Microsoft's business decisions (though I'm sure Epic just love the fact you're blaming them for the map pricing). Telling us why you think four maps are worth $10 means nothing, because that's not our problem. On our end, as consumers, we judge a product on its worth, not its cost, a point everyone involved in the Xbox Live marketplace would do well to realise.'

Sure, I'd like to be outraged at this but I don't want to feel like any more of a nerd myself, honestly.

    Oh no...

Haha I have much more respect for Major Nelson now. That's actually hilarious, and I don't know how anybody can deny such a fact

Josh, you might agree on the map pack pricing but mocking gamers when he's the public relation manager for a game console is it pretty stupid IMO.

How is he mocking "gamers" he's just mocking people in general. Everyone wants something for free.

He would specifically put on a nerd voice to mock everyone?
Major Nelson's site is currently down but I suggest you watch the podcast for yourself.

It's M$ that had Cliffy B throw in a price tag, which is ridiculous. We need rewards, more free things...they know we'll end up buying the DLC.

Considering maps were free before the marketplace came along of course get mad a people wondering why they have to buy 4 maps that's
1/6 of the game's price. that would make a game with 24 maps equal to a price of 1 game. This would exclude models, coding, ect.. So what do we learn here? That maps were always free on the Pc (as long as it wasn't in an expansion pack with 10-20 maps plus other extra content). Microsoft found a haven in selling free content, gamers get a back bone and he gets mad.
Don't get me started on how there charging for game modes and how easy it is to map.
