Yet again, the Wii and DSi are on fire all across Japan. They have crushed the competition yet again.

Nintendo consoles look like they are theleading brand at the moment, outselling Sony consoles and Microsoft consoles.

Nintendo platforms appear to be in cruise control at the moment in Japan, easily outselling rival systems in the latest weekly hardware chart.

DSi was again the top seller during the week ended December 14, moving almost 50,000 units more than it managed the previous week.

That's not very surprising. Anyway, congrats to Nintendo for all their success.

What is the DSi? Is it like a newer version of the DS?

      Yup; you're right.

It has wider screens and two cameras, one on the outer part of the shell, and one hiding on the hinge of the clamshell. Though, it has a lower battery-life.

Console sales means absolutely little if you barely have any good games to play on the system.

Then why else would they be bought, to play games in. The Nintendo systems do have good enough games to play.

People buy them cause really the system is a fad and a gimmick and to look cool with the rest of the crowd. The Wii has a shit load of Shovelware, cause nintendo refuses to push for better development for games on the system. Believe it or not, gaming systems are only successful if the software sales are big. I'm pretty sure Xbox 1 had tons of software sales to the 25 million console sales. Which is why they're still in the gaming business. But when you have a library which has more bad quality games in comparison to good games, and the competition, it's hard to say Nintendo is crushing anything. I could probably find 15 games which could be consider good, in comparison to 70+ combined on PS3 and 360.

Now this brings me back why nintendo has made a shit load of mistakes this generation. The Wii does have good potential for gaming, but Nintendo doesn't help the potential happen. Instead they allow devs take the lazy way out in producing titles. So for every 10 crap games, you may end up with 2 good games.
This is my views on the situation, and some has merit. You can disagree with me which is fine since it's your opinion, but I cannot sit here and think the Wii is really crushing anyone.

I don't agree with your first sentence, but you make some better sense with the rest. In terms of development, every consoles takes time to go through that, and the Wii is no exception. Have to wait like the other consoles to put out more quality stuff. What they have right now though, is good enough for people to want to buy a Wii.

Except the first statement is true though. Think about it, how many users play PS3 games and 360 games? A pretty good portion of the install base, why? Cause they have a very big list of games which are good whether it be exclusives or multiplatform. Wii owners, barely play alot of games. The most you can say is they're playing Brawl, but one game doesn't cut it, nor is that game better then Melee. I have heard many through out the net and Neo, who are gamers rarely play their Wii and leave it in the closet to collect dust, and this is higher then people doing it to PS3. Which goes to show you that either, A. People are buying this cause it's a fad and they want to jump on the cool kids train and cause its cheaper(even though it's over-price for what it's offering). Or B. People are just buying multiple Wii's. I like to think the former, A, has more merit to it.

Wow, way to see this article and think "ZOMG, I MUST INSULT THE WII AND PROVE A POINT FOR MY PS3/360 HOMMES BECAUSE THIS ARTICLE PISSES US OFF", concluded by your essay repl- I mean rant, to a mere observation (though I may be a hypocrite for saying that since I'm about to type one up in response)...

Anyway, that's not necessarily true. Some people are leaving thier Wii's behind, but this HAS been a good year for Nintendo, and the Wii has many good games. I have a 360, and I'm no "casual gamer" or "crowd follower", yet I NEVER play the 360 aside from Fallout 3 and sometimes Gears. I can name a few others who feel the same, too. The Wii doesn't have any less good games than the other consoles (don't make me whip out the list that I conveniently saved onto a word document), it just has more shovel ware and crap (mainly because when Nintendo DIDN'T let that shit onto their consoles and was strict, the Gamecube had almost no third party games).

Your not really a fanboy though, since unlike some people we can agree this is all a matter of opinion. But no, you can't treat "the wii made tons of mistakes" and "not as many people play the Wii as the Ps3 and 360 because they have so much more games" as a fact.

P.S: When they say "crushing" the competition, they mean console sales, not "how fun the games are".

The Nintendo DS has had a much better year than the Wii content-wise in my opinion.

Good to hear it selling very well...not that if matters to me whether it does so or not...

The Wii has had a better year by far with its constant production of games and features. The Wii is constantly getting updates with on-line features and extra accesories. The DS doesn't have that many accesories.

I think it is great that Nintendo is expanding it's sales in other countries. There are not many countries without it.

It sounds more of an iPod-ish type of DS system to me.
