Owners of an XBox 360 have something to look forward to from the creator of the Final Fantasy series this holiday season. With around 400 locations, 300 characters and seven whole hours of FMV cutscenes, you can't go wrong!
In a recent, lengthy interview, FeelPlus president Ray Nakazato revealed several details about the upcoming Mistwalker RPG, Lost Odyssey. While the game is not yet fully complete, Nakazato did indicate that the developers were happy with what they had, and confirmed that the game would be released sometime in 2007.
According to Nakazato, Lost Odyssey will feature around 400 locations and 300 characters. The total length of all the cutscenes in the game comes to about seven hours, with one full hour of prerendered scenes and six hours of real-time scenes.
The battle system of Lost Odyssey will be turn-based, with real-time elements. In a formula RPGamers should be familiar with, players will explore the environment until they encounter enemies, at which point the game will switch to a battle screen. One element of battle that players will need to focus on is timing. Nakazato states, "It's turn-based, strategic combat with some real-time features."
Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of the Final Fantasy series and founder of Mistwalker Studios, is working closely with FeelPlus to produce Lost Odyssey. The game, which uses Unreal Engine 3 (the same engine used by games such as Gears of War) is slated for an international release during the 2007 holiday season.
