We know Japan makes a heck of a lot of our games these days. But they have kept many games to themselves. There are many games that are only sold IN JAPAN. Thankfully we have the Halo Series, Call of Duty and FIFA, but who knows what kind of games would rule the screens if japan had given us the other games.

There´s been a lot of talk in recent days about Japanese game development having lost its edge in the face of the West´s forward momentum. Balderdash, we say! Partially because "balderdash" is a criminally underused term. But it also has a lot to do with the fact that plenty of folks are still importing their games. This is great for those of us with region-free consoles who can understand and read Japanese. Unfortunately that´s a rather small number, relatively speaking.

The only one I'm sad about missing is that Elite Beat Agents spin off because that game rocked.
Afrika also looks kind of good.

Elite Beat Agents was spun off from Ouendan, not the other way around.

When was this written? You can get the G&W collection in NA now.

It is a UK site, so that would probably explain that...

And Afrika will indeed come out in NA eventually, I'm sure...

Railfan though? From what I've heard, it is really dull (well, to be expected). Only die-hard Railroad fans would actually like it...

YES to X-edge though The demo was pretty good.

Yeah, heard of the Jump game....A bit tempting, but unless the gameplay is great, I wouldn't bother.

Even if it's a UK site, the list's about games that you can only get in Japan.

    Link is broken.

Jump Ultimate Stars would definitely be sweet to have here. I know a mostly translated version was circulating..

Me too. I would've bought Mother 1+2 as well, but I'm still waiting, hoping, and pleading that they will come out on VC.

    Two words : SQUARE ENIX.
Of course, most of their games do come in English, but pining away for the cool-looking Final Fantasy games for long months and then having to wait ANOTHER SIX MONTHS for it to come to North America isn't fun. The Europeans get an even shorter ended stick. Having to wait like 9 months... /facepalm

      Two more words: Square Soft.

Do even know how little of there games came out in PAL regions during the NES/SNES days? The first Final Fantasy game we got was FFVII. Chrono Trigger's 4th remake/port on DS will be the first time in comes to PAL regions. Super Mario RPG? We had to wait 12 years until it was final released on Virtual Console.

And you think you guy have it bad.

And how, anyone who complained about SSBB's delays is just impatient.

Maybe they should have just done NTSC and it wouldn't be a problem.

To make a long story short, the reason we have PAL is because when the Germans were trying to create colour TV, they found problems with your American TVs, and had to make a new kind that didn't explode on our power boards.

          Fatal Error Dec 30, 08
Not a problem with "our" tv's, just a problem using them with your power boards.

Don't forget that Japan is NTSC too. I'm not sure how a "coversion" from PAL to NTSC would work (you know, if it turned into something like going from SAE to metric) but it would certainly make matters easier for video games.

All of our TVs work in 60hz anyway, it's the power board that's the problem.

    Seeker X Dec 30, 08
They have tens of THOUSANDS of games exclusive to Japan. Like, check THEIR PS2 library so you see...thankfully most of them are too *bleep*ing weird to actually be missed by anybody. It's messed up, we (and by "we" I mean you desperate people) have to import THEIR games but they have a good business just about everywhere.

The list has some gems on it, but it fails for not mentioning anything from the Super Robot Wars Franchise.

It also fails for not mentioning Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom.
