Final Fantasy XIII Is Pretty, But Story Misses Mark

505 Games has announced that they would be creating a swimming video game starring none other than Michael Phelps, the Olympic swimmer who at the recent 2008 Beijing Olympic Games broke the record for Gold Medals won at a single Olympics. However, as dubious as this sounds, 505 Games President Adam Kline assures us all that the game will be a "pure action game" that "won't be set in an Olympic pool going back and forth".
God help us all.
505 Games is creating a game based on Olympic swimmer extraodinaire Michael Phelps, but can swimming carry a video game? Probably not. That's where the pure action comes in.
Swimming is a the sort of sport that is extremely exciting...for swimmers. 505 Games realizes this, and while there will be a healthy dose of watersports in Phelps' game, it won't be confining the action to the swimming pool.

Action Swimming game? unless it involves you swimming and harpooning your enemies while fighting for Gold medals and discovering the lost city of Atlantis, i don't see this selling very well. At least not at the levels of the Tiger Woods games.
Unless they go the Tony Hawk route and have Phelps swim in the ocean and do huge tricks off of leaping from big waves. "HUGE 900 heel grab!... ohhhh, but no points since he landed on a rock. Have to get the W in S-W-I-M by doing a leap off a wave and over the shark fin!" Hey, that sounds like actual fun, though I'm sure this could be done with a surfing game instead (I think it has already, at least, Kelly Slater or something).
Oh wait i take that back; Shooting people IS enjoyable.
