Monolith's Dave Matthews, primary art lead for the forthcoming F.E.A.R. 2 mulled over the non-Monolith expansions and ports the first game received in an interview with CVG, stating they "killed off a few" fans.

"[TimeGate] took the story in a direction that we didn't intend," he added. "We look at Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate as an alternate universe, a 'what could have been', and because of that it doesn't necessarily diminish the story that we were trying to tell. F.E.A.R. was about Alma, F.E.A.R. 2 is about Alma, and we wanted to continue the story the way we originally intended."

Well, I loved the expansions Extraction Point (less Perseus Mandate) because of the two Alma, one trying to kill the hero, the other protecting him...

I agree that Perseus Mandate can have killed some fans because of the non-sense of the story and the fact that the hero, despite being a normal agent, was having the same powers as the Pointman, the hero from FEAR.
