No, not physical pain, but the PSN game PAIN. It is reported that PAIN is the number one downloaded game for 2008. And the game coming second...is High Velocity Bowling. Suprisingly enough, flOw, one of the very first PSN games is still selling strong.

Wait we still IN 2008?

The Christmas episode of Sony’s Pulse has given us the lowdown on which of the raft of games available on the PlayStation Network sold best in the last twelve months. Quite surprisingly - given the nature of the game - PAIN takes the number one spot, with the likes of the confusing flOw and the bizarrely-named High Stakes Poker Edition helping to fill out the rest of the places.

Strangely theres no mention of WipEout HD or PixelJunk Eden, but they could be slow-burners that jump into the top ten next year. Either that, or they're woefully unappreciated. Ratchet & Clank at number ten? Someones not going to be happy.

The full list:

1. Pain
2. High Velocity Bowling
3. Super Stardust HD
4. PixelJunk Monsters
5. flOw
6. Warhawk
7. Aquatopia
8. Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection
9. High Stakes Poker Edition
10. Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty

I don't have either one, and it's surprising to me to see Pain downloaded so much when there are much better games available.

So true. im suprised eden isn't up there as well and so many people bought Aquatopia. Isn't an eyetoy only game?

Anyway, I guess PAIN is just like the tv show america's funniest home videos, people like to see other people get hurt.

Does High Velocity Bowling have trophies? Cause I'd look into it.

Yes it does. If you go to the Game listing section on the store they have a trophy category that will show you all of the PSN games available with trophies.

Admit it Final Blade. The Trophy/Achievement system is enslaving you and your addicted!? It happened to me.

Not quite. But PSN games really isn't something I'm going to shell out to get unless they have something interesting. Which atm is Trophies. Besides, I looked at the trophies on another site for it, looked easy imo.

I have 5 of the above listed games. Auqatopia "looked" cool, but it is pretty lame. If you have the Eye Toy, you tend to want to do something with it, so I bought a couple of the eye toy apps. Pain isn't bad. It has trophies, and there is a challenge to get all available points. You have to try the game before you give it a negative comment. It is actually quite fun. I tried Eden, but I didn't care for it. I like Flow better. Just my 2 cents.

I'm guessing a lot of those are bought because they are cheap and simple. Others could be for the trophies...be warned, PSN game Trophies are 3x harder than Retail games.

Thats why im suprisedden wasn't on the list. I wasn't here when the trophy thing started but wasn't it one of the first game to have troiphies? i'd think that would be enough reason for people to buy it.

Oh, and getting a bronze trophy in eden or monsters is like getting a silver or gold in any other game. Freaking insanly hard.

I can't remember, but after looking at the Trophy list, it seems easy imo. The game was actually one of the first to use in game music. Also I think Pixel Junk Eden and another games was the first to have trophies.

I bought High Velocity Bowling the other day hoping it would be like Wii Sports Bowling.

    It wasn't.

    It was shit.

I think HVB is much better than Wii bowling. I guess it is subject to opinion.

Buying a game and liking it are two different things... I have both on my PS3 and I've barely touched them after the initial impression wore off...

Pain was free for a while with a coupon which came with some PS3's didn't it? That could explain why the number of downloads were so high.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. It came as a bundle with the ps3.
