Having released on December 25th 2008 and with only four days of sales, it appears that White Knight Story/Chronicles has shown how huge it really is by selling more copies than all previous JRPG's that have been released on the XBOX360 with 203,000 units sold between 22nd-28th December. However the game hasn't stopped there, it seems that the first day sales themselves, have surpassed the total of many games with Enterbrain reporting that 100,000 sold on the first day it self.

With numbers like these, you can all but be sure that Sony's Killer RPG is just around the corner...

01. [PS3] White Knight Chronicles (SCE) - 203,000 / NEW
02. [WII] Animal Crossing: City Folk (Nintendo) - 168,000 / 895,000
03. [NDS] Kirby Super Star Ultra (Nintendo) - 159,000 / 855,000
04. [PSP] Dissidia Final Fantasy (Square Enix) - 157,000 / 660,000
05. [NDS] Wagamama Fashion: Girl's Mode (Nintendo) - 120,000 / 549,000
06. [NDS] Pokemon Platinum (Pokemon) - 94,000 / 2,187,000
07. [NDS] Rhythm Heaven (Nintendo) - 93,000 / 1,351,000
08. [NDS] Phantasy Star Zero (Sega) - 86,000 / NEW
09. [WII] Wii Fit (Nintendo) - 80,000 / 2,967,000
10. [WII] Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo) - 74,000 / 2,003,000

For those that want comparisons, from the same source (Magic Box), it took The Last Remnant (XBOX360) four days to sell 101K

I just want to see more reviews outside of Famitsu. It's clear the Japanese are really starting to like this game; how else would it've sold 212 thousand units in four days? I need more reviews to see why they love it so much.

Its unfair to compare the sales to the sales of the Last Remnant, considering the population of Japan own ALOT more PS3's as opposed to 360's.

For reference, this is only the third-best opening week for any PS3 game in Japan.

    Metal Gear Solid 4 - 476k
    Devil May Cry 4 - 212k
    White Knight Story - 203k

DMC4 doesn't count much since it's not an exclusive. So technically it's the second best opening week sales for any PS3 EXCLUSIVE(which is our main point here) in Japan.

And FYI the WKC also outsold in 4 days in one week against many 360 games in Japan. Effectively making them look like failures in the process and making Famitsu look like, once again, idiots for rating a game low and having it sell like hotcakes compared to other JRPG's in Japan.

        Uh, let's consider two things:

1.) PS3 userbase vs. 360 userbase -> this one should be obvious
2.) reviews do not correlate with sales

Um those are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Famitsu according to a few is "supposed" to be credible to Japan user base yet it seems in a week/first day sales, it's a utter success. Haze and Lair got beaming reviews by this site, and it turned into failures(lets not forget how awful these two games got reviewed by others). Reviews are supposed to say to the audience how the game is, which correlates to sales(based on how the game plays and the like). That's the purpose of reviews.

And since the PS3 is lacking alot in JRPG's it's a beaming success to the other JRPG's which came out. Which proves how uncredible Famitsu are. Listen we could debate the semantics here, but it would be a waste of time and stating the obvious.

          FB

Sales does not equate to quality.

As example of GTAIV. How do you know that all of those gamers are having a blast with it?

So, you're comparing a new title called WKC from a known developer in Japan called Level 5 to a monster flagship hype series known as Grand Theft Auto from Rock Star and Take two? Yea you really make a strong argument.

GTA had a MASSIVE fanbase and that game had alot of hype. And most of it was cause of the previous GTA titles. But GTA4 does = to quality, whether your personal taste agrees with that is up for you to decide.
WKC is a new game not much is known other than it's made by a huge developers called Level 5. So you can see the hype difference is there. Next time actually use a better comparison.

I have to go with Slumpy here; there's no guarantee those gamers are actually enjoying the game. We just know they all bought it. Which is why I mentioned elsewhere that I'd like some more reviews outside of Famitsu.

Because let's be honest: Famitsu could be right, WKC could actually be crap. And TBH, I wouldn't be surprised.

You know, if reviews did really correlate with sales, Beyond Good & Evil would've sold a hell of a lot better than it actually did.

As others have said I want to see some more reviews and impressions, this could be the RPG of the year.
