Fan-translation groups Phantasian Productions and Absolute Zero have announced that they are currently working jointly on a new translation project that is running concurrently with their current respective projects. In the works is a translation of Namco Bandai's RPG Tales of Destiny Director's Cut for the PlayStation 2, the second remake of the PlayStation original.
The project had been in the works since February of 2008; Cless from Phantasian Projects is doing hacking and programming, while throughim413 of Absolute Zero is doing the translation. They are being assisted by staff members gogs, Kajitani-Eizan, and Carnivol. They have also released a number of work-in-progress screenshots.
This is the two groups' first collaboration effort since the small fiasco that erupted after Absolute Zero's Tales of Phantasia patch a couple years ago. Both sides are on good terms with each other. Currently Phantasian Productions is wrapping up its Tales of Phantasia PSX project while also working on a Tales of Destiny 2 PS2 translation. Absolute Zero's main project is a Tales of Innocence translation for the Nintendo DS.
