Electronic Arts confirms it will be breathing new life into The Simpsons as a video game franchise with a new multi-platform game for the PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii and DS consoles later this Fall. "The Simpsons" (finalized title pending) is not intended to be released alongside the anticipated motion picture scheduled to hit the big screen this July 27th.
In the latest game, which currently has the working title of The Simpsons (that title was used for an arcade game back in 1991), there will be 16 levels, which take the form of episodes, each with a unique title animation, setting, and story. Within each "episode" players will take control of two family members or play one of them with a friend in a split-screen two-player mode.
Early on, the dysfunctional Simpsons family--that is Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa, and Maggie--realise that they are trapped in a video game and decide that they might as well use the opportunity to give themselves special powers. For instance, Bart can become Bartman, and Homer can transform into the Homerball. According to EA, the game makes fun of the video game industry, along with pop culture.

As for the game though, the past Simpsons games weren't exactly great.. will this just be like the rest?
I'd like to see what happens with the game.
