Spore Delayed to 2008

Nestled within the financial details of Electronic Arts' Q4 2006 losses today is another disappointing development; Will Wright's evolution sim, Spore, is no longer scheduled for release anytime during EA's fiscal 2007 year. Spore will not make its expected Holiday 2007 release, and has been pushed back until sometime past March 2008.

In a conference call to discuss today's financial results, EA said that Will Wright's highly anticipated evolution sim, Spore, is no longer in the company's plans for the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2008. Most in the industry had expected the game to be released later this year, perhaps in time for the holiday shopping season.

    Damn, that stinks. I am definitely getting this though, hopefully the delay will allow them to improve the game further.

    Well this sucks. It's been almost 2 years since I first read news of Spore and I was immediately hooked. Looks like it will be 3 years before I can finally get my hands on it.

    This game sparked my interest at last year's E3, has some originality. Hopefully it'll come out early 2008, but the longer they take with the game, the better for us in most cases.
