Remember this? Well, we still don't know whether it's going to be true or not, but we can now be assured that 2009 is going to have a new Lego game that will "be a surprise" according to a source at Traveller's Tales.
And it is also said that the game won't be Harry Potter.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1 in an interview broadcast on new year's day, TT producer Loz Doyle was asked specifically if the studio would make another Indy game.

"You never know," he replied. "There's always the possibility that we would revisit a franchise. And you never know, it might not be the end of Star Wars, it might not be the end of Indy - we keep our options open."

Producer Nick Ricks added: "There will be a LEGO game in 2009. And I think it's okay to say that you'll be a bit surprised."

Elsewhere, it was rumoured late last week that a LEGO version of EA and MTV's Rock Band is also in development.

Haha, I seriously LOL'd at Spongebob Queerpants.
I seriously can't imagine a Lego version of Spongebob, man. Spongebob doesn't fit within the dimensions of a Lego character.

He is a lego character. He's just a yellow brick with legs.

      StarJet Jan 6, 09
Hahaha, you're right, if we look at him that way. The face could be the top of the brick and those round fixing nubs could be made black to be his holes. xD

My guesses would be a game based on: Superman, vehicle/air combat, the Simpsons, or some sport.

The Simpsons would actually work surprisingly well I'd imagine.

That might not look so good. The Simpson character designs rely on shape, and lego versions are limiting, blue hair aside.

Yeah, considering it'd be pretty simple to sort out the character models xD I'd hope for Pirates of the Caribbean myself, I can see that doing pretty well.

    What else? Lego X-Men, damnit!

Meh, to be honest though - why not make a freaking LEGO game? For those of use that abused each other online back when Studly posted the link to Blockland (at least I assume it was Studly) in the loungin' forum, that game had a pretty damned good idea. Lego has yet to cash in on that, but imagine the possibilities with current console power? Building a whole damned lego city, and laying siege to it afterwards online?

It's practically what Legos were meant for. :3

You've really got my attention there. I've never thought of that possibility. Though that's just me. How come Traveller's Tales haven't thought of it?
OMG, that's it! That's the surp- *Is shot by TT agents*

    HisServant77 Jan 6, 09
Well Unless I'm mistaken, so far they've only made lego games from characters who have already been lego-ized in real life toys. So can anyone think of any lego toys that haven't already been given a game?

    And . . . WHEW! Glad it's not Harry Potter. I hate that fad . . .

They just need to include online Co-Op play in the next Lego game. I was shocked that Lego Batman didn't have it. Really hurt its value, in my opinion.

I think they should keep making lego superstars.
I mean not like Family guy or the simpsons (even though I love them)
But I mean like those older time heroes that still rule.

Lol lego resident Evil, or lego justice leage
    or lego megaman
    so many possibilities

      Lego Jurassic Park sounds nice

Lego Spiderman . . . now THAT'S a good possibility. They do go for the hero/superhero type, and I was saying from the start they needed Lego Spiderman!

guys, they have only made Lego games after toys that are already made, so it would probably be one of their product lines they already have.

i want to see a game made from their non franchise Legos like the Castle set. they have Orcs as bad guys in that now.

      HisServant77 Jan 7, 09
Why is that? I said in my first comment that they only made them off of already lego-ized characters that they made toys out of. Then, most of those commenting here seem to know that and are guessing correctly.

        Lego Call of Duty
        Lego Harvest Moon
        Lord of the rings
        matrix
        Resident evil
        Pirates of the Caribbean
        Simpsons
        lego justice leage
        lego megaman

        All of these are impossible

Spiderman LEGO would be great, and I want Jurassic Park LEGO game! Steven Spielburg has his way alot, so I wouldn't be surprised INDIE JONES is SPIELBURG

          HisServant77 Jan 7, 09
Now yeah those listed are near impossible. (I say near impossible because who knows, maybe they'll do something completely different from what they did in the past.)

Here's to hoping for either Spiderman or Jurassic Park!!
