This new peripheral from ezGear looks pretty darn sweet - it is called the You Rock Guitar and is part Guitar Hero/Rock Band controller and part real guitar to use on your PC as a MIDI instrument. It features a touch-sensitive full fret board and strings to strum. It is a pretty pricey instrument at $149, but that is cheaper than most real guitars.

ezGear, a leading marketer of state of the art audio, video and gaming products and Inspired Instruments, an California based music and gaming technology company, announces the introduction of the world’s most advanced video game and music controller, the You Rock Guitar. The You Rock Guitar includes breakthrough technology that bridges the gap between video gaming and music; like no tuning, multi-touch game play and real string articulation to name a few...

      Just buy a real guitar.
That isn't worth $150. I don't like the looks of it either.

I read the whole release. Let's see... real game controller with strings for triggers not a toggle switch!, a USB guitar for Garage Band, built-in sounds, NO TUNING, IPOD loop, and still plug it into my amp. It's much better for a gamer than any real guitar... I want one... and I own a real guitar.

You know what's even better? A real guitar! It gives you all the sound of Guitar Hero, but with an authentic amplifier! Get it today!

If you're talking acoustic then true. But electrics are a whole other game.

With the right synthesizer I'm not sure that's true. An electric guitar can do just about anything with the right equipment connected to it. Of course that equipment would cost a lot more than this guitar.

Point is, though, why would you get a guitar hero guitar that has strings on it, when a normal guitar is pretty much the same? If you're gonna get this peripheral, you might as well save yourself some redundancy and just invest your time in the real deal.

I just hate people who play Guitar Hero and think they could shred a real guitar (FYI, most can't, obviously).

Unless they actually learned to play a real guitar none can. I play the game and I know for a fact that I couldn't play yankee doodle on a real guitar.
