Namco Bandai Profit Up 71%

volacide | May 09, 2007 | News | Playstation 2 Playstation 3
Okay, so apparently Namco is complaining about their lackluster PS3 sales. Although when you make a game like Mobile Suit Gundam that gets crappy scores across the board, I don't know what else you can expect. Here's the thing though, they have nothing to be complaining about if their profit is up 71%.

Gotta love the irony.
It appears that the marriage of Namco Games and Bandai Inc. is paying off. More than a year and a half after the two companies formally merged, Namco Bandai Holdings Inc. has reported a banner year. For the fiscal year ended March 31, the company reported a net profit of a 24.2 billion yen (around $201.5 million) on revenue of 459.1 billon yen ($3.82 billion)--a 71 percent increase over the prior year.

I think they're complaining because people haven't gotten over Dragon Ball Z yet. "Our developers are still on Namek!!!" Oh I kid, I kid.

I'm guessing much of their profits are racking up due to sales in Japan. MSG: Crossfire was donkey turdloaf, but in Japan it still managed to hit the top 10. (Or was it top 5?) If they can pull that off somewhere, then their good games are bound to activate the bonus score multiplier.

Wonder if they'll hold off pushin' anything via Cellius anytime soon. Perhaps another reason they've avoided announcing Ace Combat 06 for the PS3.

Wouldn't Bandai be doing the Digimon games as well?

Namco just needs to stop complaining.
