I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all consoles are created equal."
Apparently Sony thinks the console wars have gone on long enough and have taken it upon themselves to end the debate once and for all. As such, they've released this nifty chart as a part of a PR stunt (what else would you call it?), mapping out key features on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 Arcade, and Nintendo Wii.
Step aside, fanboys because Sony's PS3 is the clear winner.

How is this going to end the console wars? When fanboys are going at it, it's this crap that the PS3 fanboys use as their defense.
Oh man Sony, this is too good. Too good.
Am I really the only one that sees this as everyday practice by all three companies?
Even funnier is the people who defend the chart. Good times.
Oh, and this is not the original source. It's the Gamasutra link in it.
I was thinking, Good for Sony! Finally! Then reading the chart I thought . . . "Hm, this doesn't seem like it's going to end all that garbage of the console wars and everything." A little amused at the thought.
Then I said, "No way this can be done to make each console appear equal!"
Finally I read your last comment and said, "Oh."
If they've got a better system, why the frick shouldn't they?
You sound like a complete fanboy ; ;
Just go away and be quiet.
Also, comparing a PS3 to the 360 Arcade is like picking on the gimpy kid in the playground. They could've at least used the mid-range model (Pro). This is one of those things consumers look at and might think it makes sense at first until you bring in all the other factors, like different models, games, personal preference, etc. Same thing with how Microsoft advertises the Arcade -- it looks good on paper, but in the end you may be better off spending a little more on a Pro.
Of course that's not taking into account that you might not want Wifi or the big HDD. Maybe you want the $20 HDD kit that MS has, or no HDD at all. Maybe you want a wired connection. And maybe you don't want XBL gold. On the other hand maybe the 360 isn't the console for you after all.
Price: $230
I don't really care since I own both systems, but god, do they really have to go to the extremes to jack up the price?
I mean hell I don't even pay for gold on my 360 because I don't use it. I don't need wifi because it is less than 6 feet from the router. But I did get the 120GB HDD because at the time it wasn't significantly more expensive than the 60GB. Got it for $120 used. Still I realize if I bought every add-on and extra required to make the system completely equal to my PS3 I would be paying almost double what I paid for the PS3. Or at least I would have at the time that I bought it.
But I don't need the 360 to be equal to the PS3. The PS3 is a major part of my entertainment center. It is my DVD player, Blu-ray player, a game system, sometimes a music system, occasionally a back up computer when someone is using mine or the rare occasion that it crashes, I use it for all of that and more. Some days it doesn't get shut down at all. The 360 on the other hand is just another gaming system. At least that's the way I look at them. Still I enjoy both for what they are. And others might use their 360 similar to how I use my PS3. I just prefer the PS3 for things outside of gaming over the 360.
