The Falcon chip was meant to completely eliminate the overheating issues in the Xbox 360. But while the amount of cases has receded CES 09 still demonstrated the problem is far from over. One reporter claims that while playing Halo Wars the machine gave out him. It did not reach a full RROD but still managed a 2 light error.

Then, as the title of this article says, the inevitable happens. Yes, Microsoft's brand new addition to the Halo series suffers from another RROD error. From what I understand, since its only a 2 light error, it is most likely an overheating issue. Yes, its a Dev kit and the display was probably not allowing enough cool air to pass through to the console, but c'mon MS! This is the next step for your flagship title at CES???

Isn't the Jasper model out yet? It's not good to display a new game and have your console shut down on you

I tried playing my Xbox 360 inside my oven, with it on, and not only did I get the RRoD, I actually noticed the plastic melting. So now I have a bum 360, and I have to clean off all of the white crap in the oven.

    What the hell, Microsoft?

You had the heat on too low. 450 degrees for 30 minutes will probably do the trick for you.

Since a little over a year old, I can't determine the credibility of the article, but if this is the same Falcon chip, then there you go.

        Thanks.

Games won't run any faster with the new CPUs, but according to reports Microsoft has switched to the new model processor to make the Xbox 360 more reliable and less prone to overheating.

I love when people cry and complain about RRoD when 360s overheat because of poor ventilation of the display case.

If it was in the display case then thats pretty understandable.
    Didn't this already happened before??

    Yawn.

Huh, I think I met this guy at E3. Am I the only person on the planet whose Xbox 360 HASN'T had an RRoD? And it's over two years old... I'm really starting to think most RRoD cases can be blamed on irresponsible owners because, honestly, if you knew your console was predisposed to overheating, you should be a little more careful with it.

My friend's has his for about two years and nothing happened until recently -- his fan went crazy (very loud) and then it got the RRoD just the other week. I laughed.

I've been very lucky with my 360. Maybe I deserve it though because my PS2 was horrible (blue disks ><). If it's a pattern developing maybe I should skip the next gen...

My 360 has been fine since the day I bought it. I'm sure when the warranty is expired though, it will just blow up.

I've had mine for about a year and mine has never got the red ring of death. Or overheated for that matter (played fallout 3 for a little over 10 hours with no problem).

Had mine almost 2 years and its perfectly fine, even with over 14 hrs of use in one day, on multiple occasions too. I feel blessed...

Someone needs to start a club for people whose 360s haven't gotten RRoD despite age. If I had a PS3, I'd totally make a Home club for it.

I have one friend who has gone through more than 7 360s in less than six months. He keeps getting sent back poorly-refurbished and faulty models. His luck just ain't good.

I'm actually on my 4th one, the GameStop guys already knew me when I came in with a 360.

1)Internal problem with the A/V cable slot.
2)Console failed to recognize ANY controller. (wired or wireless)
3)RROD (I was wondering when this one was gonna hit me)
4)Current one suffering Disc drive issues. (This one has managed to last though)

Sounds to me like your current one has the same issues as mine. It's not completely broken and it's manageable and all so I'm not going to bother sending it in or anything though. Just one of those irritations

Man, that's not good. There has to be some way to fix that issue. Thanks to God that mine hasn't done that. But I do get a lot of disc read errors while playing. Usually right before a save point and right after spending a lot of time and skill trying to get to a certain point. Then it'll freeze or I'll get the message saying my disc is messed up . . . even though it's not

But . . . it teaches me patience that's for sure!!
