Jonathan Weinberg of thesun.co.uk talks about the controversial decision to allow a Grand Theft Auto game on the Nintendo DS due to the adults only rating and the DS being described as "family friendly".

But speaking about Chinatown Wars in September, Rockstar's co-founder Dan Houser told Edge magazine: "It can't be softened to make it family-friendly - that's not the game we're making. We've never not done well by sticking to our guns."

Tim Ingham, editor of games industry magazine MCV, said: "The DS is a console that doesn't exclusively cater for children and families even though it provides a wealth of suitable entertainment for them.

Who cares? If R* and Nintendo are alright with making a adult only rated game why should it matter even if it is on the DS.

I saw this in my Nintendo Magazine, and I thought it was a bad choice. GTA is trying to expand to all consoles, but I don't think they should. The DS just doesn't seem like that console to have GTA.

I figured they'll go for the Wii but the Nintendo DS was a bit of a surprise to me. I don't think I'd even be that interested unless it's on something with a controller or keybord+mouse.

    It's really rated adults only??

Considering stuff like sex, drugs, alcohol and plenty of violence it's hard not to give it a rating of suitable for adults only.

So what do you say of every other GTA, rated M for Mature? There aren't many games at all, across all platforms, that get the AO rating.

Not my problem but you can consider such things as changing attitudes in the industry, higher levels of harsh content than past games, complaints etc.

I'd like to know why it's rated AO and not MA myself...

Chinatown Wars is getting an AO rating? I may need to find and pick this up actually. What could make it get that rating though? I doubt hot coffee would look good at all on a DS.

Dark Arcanine, what the hell do you mean not your problem? I asked a simple question. I'm surprised that this game is getting an AO rating. You said not surprising considering this n that. I said every other GTA, which I think we can all safely assume is much more intense than Chinatown Wars, has the M rating. If you're going to include changing attitudes, then are you also implying that all games with such content in the future will get the AO rating also? Because that isn't likely to happen at all, which brings it all back to this game. It has to only be getting this rating because it's on a kiddy console.

I'm suprised too. It'd look way less realistic on the DS, but they have still classified it as AO? Must be sick
I agree with Rockstar, stick by what you have.

I saw this in a Nintendo Magazine too, I really don't think they should do this..
