After a decade of working on the Tony Hawk skateboarding series, Neversoft prez Joel Jewett has announced it will be passing the torch. No further details as of yet.

Neversoft plans to release more sequels to the "Guitar Hero" series — including the much-ballyhooed "Guitar Hero: Metallica" set for release during the first quarter of this year — but the company has let the Tony Hawk series go to another developer.

"It's probably best for the franchise ... it's time for someone else to add fresh ideas to it," Jewett said.

I am posting my idea everywhere I see this article in hopes someone at Activision will do it.

"HD remix" disc that compiles the first three or four Tony Hawk games. I just want all those levels again, online play, and it be done to look nice widescreen hd. Instant money for them.

I'd maybe go for the first 5 games.

It was THUG2 that it went downhill for me.

Went downhill from THPS2 for me..
The series really didn't excite me after that. And I still prefer the first over any of them.

2 and 3 were my favorite. But they favored street more than vert in those which I was always better at. Vert players kind of got the shaft from 2 on.

Yeah I played THPS 2 and 3 for hours on end. The tracks and levels were great. Went downhill after 4 for me.

Proving Ground ruined Tony Hawk for me. I loved the THSP series, but the other games just weren't the same.

if anything, proving ground was a step in the right direction. the skill challenges integrated into the levels, and the option to put ramps and stuff wherever you want was pretty cool. the large single level format worked really well, and best of all it brought the difficulty back (some parts were even a bit too damn difficult).

the level design was great, and the animations were awesome too.

Tony Hawk Underground was probably my favorite modern Hawk game, after that it all seemed to deteriorate into childish jokes and petty games. I can see why they have given up what with EA and Skate 2 now appealing to both street and vert there was just no way Tony Hawk was going to return and make any good sales.

Definitely. THUG was the best one imo.

My two least favourite TH games are THUG2 and Proving Ground.

TH games were best when they had music that wasn't mainstream. These days there's to much new, "hip" music on TH games.

The PS1 TH games had the most appropriate music for a skateboarding game imo.

The soundtracks for the first two games are gems in my opinion. Really brought a lot to the experience.

This is good news. Now we can have that GUN sequel. Make it bigger, and more badass is possible. Seriously that game was a diamond in the rough for me during that time in my gaming life. Absolute perfection, albiet shortlived.

I am a big fan of the Tony Hawk games, and I like Paco's plan. THPS2 was my favorite in the series. I played it on three different systems (N64, PC, and PS1), and I still love the stages there.
