What happened to the console war?

Over half of Funcom's Age of Conan servers will be gone. In the US alone, it is going from 25 servers to only 6. I wonder when a MMO game can come out to compete against WoW at all, I have hopes for Warhammer Online gaining more steam.
Age of Conan has not had an easy go of things. It was hyped up as being the potential WoW killer and it got off to a fast start, but it didn't take long for the Hyborian Kingdoms to become a ghost town as players flocked back to Azeroth.
Funcom, the game's developer, has announced that they will be reducing the number of servers from 49 to 18. Of those 31 servers getting the ax, 25 of them are US servers.
While things don't look good for Age of Conan, the few of you who still play it don't have to worry about it being shut down anytime soon. Until they launch their next MMO, The Secret World, Age of Conan is their only source of income.

I guess the only thing that's gunna take WoW players away from WoW is another Blizzard game: Diablo III.
Tekmosis: Yeah that was part of my reasoning also. I was hooked for a week, then just wasn't compelled to keep playing, then I realized why am I paying for an MMO when I am not dedicating 3-5 hours per night = waste. *sigh* I think I may be over MMOs atm.
I'm suprised EVE online is still going though, I DL the trial and its REALLY boring(even when not gridning) basically your screen is just filled with boxes all the times with a crap load of options. It got boring REAL fast.
Alot of these MMOS have good ideas(like cities in AOC) but they just cant compete.
I am actually surprised that EVE is still going as well as Anarchy Online!
