Over half of Funcom's Age of Conan servers will be gone. In the US alone, it is going from 25 servers to only 6. I wonder when a MMO game can come out to compete against WoW at all, I have hopes for Warhammer Online gaining more steam.

Age of Conan has not had an easy go of things. It was hyped up as being the potential WoW killer and it got off to a fast start, but it didn't take long for the Hyborian Kingdoms to become a ghost town as players flocked back to Azeroth.

Funcom, the game's developer, has announced that they will be reducing the number of servers from 49 to 18. Of those 31 servers getting the ax, 25 of them are US servers.

While things don't look good for Age of Conan, the few of you who still play it don't have to worry about it being shut down anytime soon. Until they launch their next MMO, The Secret World, Age of Conan is their only source of income.

I had high hopes for this game, and wasted cash for paying for 3 months of off/on activity before finally pulling the plug on my account. Was a great concept, just something was missing, not sure what that thing is.

Funcom rushed the game out, it wasn't even close to being ready as was evident from the beta tests,

Huh... I kind of thought they would shut down the game completely. Well, I guess we'll see if there's any way for them to save this game now.

Don't count on it. It's got a multitude of problems of its own. At least AoC is reducing servers; the creators of WAR are delusional and are only allowing server transfers.

I guess the only thing that's gunna take WoW players away from WoW is another Blizzard game: Diablo III.

/agree. I cancelled my Warhammer Online account last month. Another MMO I had high hopes for, especially being a old pen and paper/minatures fan of Warhammer and 40k that was introduced to the original Warcraft RTS as a "Warhammer clone"... Oh my, how the tides have turned.

Yea, I had to cancel my subscription as well. Not only did I not have the time but it just wasn't compelling enough to keep playing. It didn't hook me in like WoW first did when it came out. I was rather disappointed, had picked up the collectors edition and all that

WOoOT! To the new quote and reply addition! WOOT.

Tekmosis: Yeah that was part of my reasoning also. I was hooked for a week, then just wasn't compelled to keep playing, then I realized why am I paying for an MMO when I am not dedicating 3-5 hours per night = waste. *sigh* I think I may be over MMOs atm.

    Another one bites the dust.

I'm suprised EVE online is still going though, I DL the trial and its REALLY boring(even when not gridning) basically your screen is just filled with boxes all the times with a crap load of options. It got boring REAL fast.

Alot of these MMOS have good ideas(like cities in AOC) but they just cant compete.

EVE to me is work. A real job. A brilliant game, but steep learning curve and it requires a SERIOUS investment.

I am actually surprised that EVE is still going as well as Anarchy Online!
