OXCGN takes a look at the misinformation regarding the supposed delay in FFXIII. Shows facts and statements showing it's on schedule and no different to the last 3 iterations of Final Fantasy release schedules since 2001.

So slip over to the site, check out the facts and quotes from reputable people at Square Enix regarding its release.

Still hate the wait though…

By now almost everyone has heard the terrible ‘news’ about the ‘delay’ of Final Fantasy XIII in North American and European regions. Of course the blame squarely lies with Microsoft, the tyrannical multinational corporation intent on destroying the entire gaming industry…yadda yadda…What utter fanboy rubbish.

The flamboyant theatrics of recent articles centred on the supposed FFXIII delay and Microsoft’s apparent role have rubbed off on me and frankly, I’m cranky. I’m not writing this article to refute another journalist’s claims or opinions but to merely clarify the misconception that FFXIII’s release in 2010 (in NA and EU) is somehow due to Microsoft.

I understand the frustration, as I am hopelessly devoted to the Final Fantasy franchise and the thought of waiting until at least April 2010 for the newest installment is disheartening, though somewhat expected. In fact, even though I write for an Xbox 360 focused website, I will be purchasing FFXIII on the PS3.

People saying it's delayed is the most frustrating thing for me. You can't delay a game that never had even a vague release date.

Everyone seems to think that the "Coming 2009" tacked on at the end of trailers released to the JAPANESE audience applied to the rest of the world as well. They're all idiots.

    Makes me want to rage.

Regardless, 2010 is still along ways off, and honestly, THAT date alone is what killed some of the hype for a lot of people.

Then those people aren't Final Fantasy fans to begin with. I have ignored all the delay posts up to this point but frankly I knew it wasn't a delay. The game always releases in Japan at least 6 months to a year before the US. Localization takes that long. My only concern when the port was announced was that the porting would further increase the lag between the Japan release and the US/UK release. But I personally never expected it to hit the US before 2010. And anyone that did hasn't been paying attention for the last decade.

2010? Forget that, I'm going to be waiting till 2011... at least I'll have to since that's when the EU version will be released (you know it is...) But I'm willing to wait...

Meh, for us in the EU it'll probably be released at around November time, Latest end of December, but i can't see it being released at 2011.

Still yeah, i'm willing to wait myself.

Sure, the hype might have died down a little since people realized that FFXIII would not be released outside of Japan until 2010, but I think that's a good thing. It's never good to overhype a game. It usually only means that you only see the things that didn't quite turn out as you might have imagined they would, and leads to a generally bad experience of the game. If the hype dies down a little, this game can only benefit from it.

If isn't delayed then the schedule is clearly too long, simple.

I think I'm the only person on GG who has never played a FF game and doesn't want to.

Oh well. 2010 seems like a ways off for those looking forward to it..

Absolute, you aren't the token FF virgin, I have never played a FF game. I don't know if I can say I want to play a FF game or not though. I mean if the battles are like Pokemon Reds battles then I'd be all for them, but I doubt it.
