New York Times best-seller Lorenzo Carcaterra said that he wants to create a authentic NYC experience for this game.

UK, May 10, 2007 - Atari has revealed that New York Times best-seller Lorenzo Carcattera is writing the script for upcoming survival-horror Alone in the Dark.

Born and raised in New York's Hell's Kitchen, Carcattera has written hit novels including Gangster and Sleepers, which was turned into a film starring Brad Pitt and Robert De Niro.

Alone in the Dark is set in New York's famous Central Park, with the script taking inspiration from modern TV dramas by splitting the storyline up into 'episodes' - each with their own cliffhangers and plot-twists. Atari is convinced that, with his extensive knowledge of the city where he grew up, Carcattera will "lend his creative pen to provide the most authentic NYC experience yet in a video game".

Speaking about the game, Carcattera said: "It was a challenge which allowed me to bring a realistic feel to an apocalyptic situation facing New York City and really dig into the Central Park conspiracy idea." He also thought the combination of an action-packed story and hard-edged characters would lead to a "roller-coaster of a thrill ride that should be tons of fun to play".
