Killzone 2 has finally finished being developed. Since 2005 Killzone 2 has been under heavy development and its almost done. Now its time for the production. In some more news, Mike Graham of the Playstation.Blog has said that you can expect a lot of advertisement for Killzone 2. Many people have blogged about how important it is for Sony to advertise this game, and it seems like they know that.

Hello again, I am very happy to announce that Killzone 2 has gone gold in North America! I couldn’t be more ecstatic with what the fine folks at Guerrilla have accomplished and we cannot wait to get this thing into your hands. Killzone 2 will be available on store shelves in the US on February 27th, 2009.

And I can also say that you will be seeing Killzone 2 ads everywhere very soon. Our Marketing guys have been working their tail off.

Now when they say everywhere this better mean worldwide, i do not want to hear that America is having TV spots all over the place while Europe gets nothing. I would also hope that this is advertising properly the kind Microsoft goes for when they release the next iteration of Halo.

I don't want to see one commercial a day because Sony are showing the 18 rated trailer meaning they can only show it past 9pm, i want there to be a few commercials so they can advertise this game all day long for a month before release, perhaps having a GTA IV style countdown etc... Sony can learn from past developers methods at generating excitement.

If they play this right we could see the first PS3 game that has mass selling like that of a Microsoft Game Studios title, this won't be a case of it sold 700,000 in one day like most of the other games on the platform it could be 6 million the PS3 now has the install base to allow that, and Killzone 2 is the game hyped enough and big enough to do that i reckon.

Sony is great at creating really cool ads. There problem is they never show them.

They should get David Fincher on the case as the creative consultant... Then again you only have to look at youtube to find some music piece that really suits the footage.
